..........................Growing up in Austin, Texas, I learned much about the fine art of; power through songs. The simplicity of playing with your heart and soul, and leaving the mind free from harmful analysis.
.....My first real deal band was as the drummer for Ian Moore; who became my brother and my biggest influence, and the reason that became anything at all as a musician. (And if I have not thanked you for that Ian; I am now!) Much road and world travels with that tribe allowed me to grow and enhance myself as a musician and as a person.
.....After a long life with that group of brothers I was drafted into another beautiful situation; as the drummer for world renowned songwriter, storyteller, and performer; Joe Ely. It was through this experience that I learned the beauty of "not playing". What I mean is that playing with this band; consisting of David Grissom (guitar), Lloyd Maines (peddle-steel), Joel Guzman (accordian), and of course Joe, I learned the abilty to harness one's energy, and save it for precise moments of the song; creating beautiful tensions. It was kinda like being taught how to make love. Sensuality and intensity as opposed to mediocrity and insult!
...... I have been fortunate to have many influences guide me through the most amazing roads;(dirt and paved). It has made me the person / player that I am: passionate, sensitive, powerful, focused, and a personal favorite; insane.....
.......Having recently located to California in search of more collaborative experiences in songwriting, arrangement and performance and an overall change of scenery. Composing for upcoming projects for both myself and others. Creation, inspiring moments, ( don't forget "long walks in the park" ) and chances to express my demension, (or dementia) as an artist, are all part of whole. Basically; I love to rock!
............Well, I think that is all that I care to write about, for now. This bio stuff kinda wears me out!
I'm better in person..........
