Used to be very diverse, now getting quite narrow. I'd almost say focused, but sounds like it's on purpose or something.
All of you. Well, not really. But maybe some of you. Under limited, controlled circumstances.
I have recently thrown all my musical preferences overboard in favor of a huge binge on classical music, with a special fondness for strings. This, for example, is the first movement of Gabriel Fauré's Violin Sonata No. 1, currently my favorite piece written by anyone, ever:
I am also interested in traditional Chinese music, especially when played on the erhu, like this:
And here is part of "The Butterfly Lovers", a Chinese concerto that is sometimes performed on violin, but thank God that nice erhu performances are out there as well:
In the meantime, I like a whole lot of stuff, like Hank Williams, Led Zeppelin, Glenn Miller, the Beatles, Rickie Lee Jones and the Sex Pistols -- whom I am finally going to see in concert in Budapest in August 2008! Thirty years late, but what are you going to do. Still, all that's basically taking a back seat at the moment.
I am working on some original music as well, which will probably be mainly ukulele based, as that's what my palette consists of at the moment. Probably guitars, household objects, and the musical saw will also be playing a role. Maybe even drag out the old banjo and try to forget everything I ever learned on it and just make music -- as I'm not really writing bluegrass tunes. Hopefully some recordings will be out in the second half of 2008. If I could just find someone to sing.
