About Me

Dave Soyars is a musician, singer/songwriter and music journalist (OPtion, Irish Herald, FolkWorks) who has performed live and on record with a variety of artists in a variety of genres. Despite a lengthy recording career he has not yet released his first solo record, which is due in 2009.In his world, skill is important, but he believes that intensity and honesty come first. His songs seek to find the universal within the personal, and to try and draw knowledge and experience from raw emotion. An experienced guitarist and bassist, he does most of the playing on his recordings, but various friends will drop by from time to time to support him in a live setting. There is no kind of music that is outside his interest. He embraces it all, and thinks you should too.

My "controversial" column in FolkWorks.

Well, at least I hope it will be. That's what you get when you insult the Monkees in my presence! (Even e-presence.)It all started when a bunch of "folkies" wrote off Boyce and Hart because they wer...

I bought an 8-track

The cheapest one you can get, pretty much- the Boss BR-600.  But I'm determined to learn how to use it.  So there should be new tracks up soon.  I've written a few new songs and I think...
