FORMERLY KNOWN AS The Bristol Fashion. Their Planes Will Block Out the Sun are a band that combine elements of British rock, jazz, funky grooves, and dark rhythms put together with danceable beats to produce a sound all their own. Based out of Jersey City, New Jersey, Their Planes Will Block Out the Sun are John Falcone (Drums), Victor Benjamin (Vocals, Guitars, Keyboards), Wayne Green (Bass), Craig M. (Guitars, Keyboards), Mike Nastri (Guitars, Keyboards, Vocals) ____________________________________________________________ ___ Formed in the summer of 2004, with its current members minus Wayne, who joined the band in August 2005, the three former members of the band southpaw (Vic, John, and Mike) joined with Craig on bass to form the Bristol Fashion which then changed to the current Their Planes Will Block Out the Sun. After playing for about a year with Craig on Bass, the band decided to put Craig back on his original instrument the guitar, where he brings his advanced knowledge of jazz which he had studied for the past 5 years. Craig has also played in bands in the Baltimore area, such as 9 Deuce and Derivative. He has played along side George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, De La Soul, and Lake Trout. Mike Nastri is the crazy scientist who contacts not only N.A.S.A but beings from Galaxies light years away with his effect ridden melodies. John Falcone on drums has been trained in traditional and avant garde jazz. He has played in big bands, and combos throughout New York and New Jersey. Victor Benjamin has studied voice and saxophone and has a degree in music. Wayne intellectually duels with the voices in his head...and wins. ____________________________________________________________ ___ Each band members individual musical influences contributes to the bands sound; whether its the guitar riffs influenced by Jimi Hendrix or Thelonius Monk, or Drum Beats that may remind you of Rush and Yes, Vocal styles that are reminiscent of The Smiths or the swagger of Portuguese Fado, TPWBOTS bring all these elements to their music. Tipsy V writes in a post commentary after a performance, Their Planes Will Block Out the Sun soothed the remaining hot and sticky crowd with there post-modern take on what rocks all about these days. That being accessibly crafted songs for the every-man with jack-knife flourishes of musical genius that aren't heard everyday. To compare them to the likes of Coldplay and Radiohead is to limit the scope of their endeavors as much as giving them a great compliment. ____________________________________________________________ ____The band has recorded on E.P. "Songs for My Lunatic" which was recorded at Water Music Studios in Hoboken. Manic, the song about a boy who's constant belittling by his peers goes dismissed by the authority around him and the manic persona that he develops from it and which he cant let go of until its maybe too late. On the second track Bullets, a man is given a mission which is to save the world or so he feels, and the lunatic who will stop at nothing to keep his disciples under his wing. Until hes faced with the bullets pointed at him. The final track The First of Us to Smile, is about the Lunatic inside all of us. ____________________________________________________________ ____ Their Planes Will Block Out the Sun will perform local shows throughout the area to help build their fan base.
