I’m Charlee Rose, 18 years old + absolutely in love with my music.
To start with, a few things about me! I'm strong, confident, ambitious, determined and competitive but I'm modest, down to earth + ALWAYS want to do better and be working harder. I’ve been through a lot and I am extremely dedicated to my goals, ambitions and dreams. I am not religious, I believe in my own abilities and my beautiful family, boyfriend and best friends who have stuck by me through all; I thank you! I'm also a soon to be personal trainer + very into my health and fitness, dancing and martial arts.
The music...
I’m a music student at Trafford College studying the Vocal Artist Level 3 course. I’ve been singing since the age of 6 and performing from the age of 15. I started my training with a company called “Vocaltutor†and then continued to explore different sounds with my voice and now have tuition at college with an amazing musician, who is also my tutor; Mark.
I’ve taken part in various gigs around the Manchester and Salford area also including competitions such as Live & Unsigned and Idol UK. Other performances include singing alongside the Hollyoaks cast twice in order to raise money for Manchester Children’s Hospital, performing at the Zion Centre in “Night of The Divas†and performing at Marriott Hotel and Golf Club in front of audiences of up to 500 + people.
Most of the time you will find me singing various genres, playing around with songs, re arranging them and changing them up a little! That’s because that’s what I absolutely love to do. I feel like there are so many things you can do with a melody + lyrics so sticking to one variation seems silly to me sometimes ha-ha!!
Even though I do like to play around with my music you will find that I mainly like to sing songs that are jazzy, melodic and soulful. I do branch out to Country and various Rock + Electro sounds. I feel I definitely go through different stages with both my image and my sound. Music is very emotional to me and I enjoy the freedom of being able to change my music and write what I’m feeling and sing how I’m feeling.
As for my voice, It’s very different sounding but at the same time Jazzy and Soulful. I love that! It means I’m free to do what I like with it lol. My vocal range is 5 octaves’s so sometimes I do get a bit too happy singing high notes but I love belting out ballads and powerful songs! I don’t show off but I am proud of it.
As well as my music there are other causes that I am very, very passionate about and for good reason. First of all I support B-eat (Beating Eating Disorders) and various other eating disorder charities and this is because for a very long time I suffered badly with my self esteem and my body image and I admit I did have an Eating Disorder, after a long battle I would say I’m now okay but I do understand how many men and women, girls and boys are still suffering in silence. If I had ultimate power I would take this pain away from these people instantly and KILL the stupid, stupid size zero craze, but, unfortunately I don’t have the power to do that alone. I do although have a wonderful site www.justgiving.co.uk/charlotteroseshepherd. Any donation, even if it’s 10p will make a difference and it means the world to me.
I also support “Write Love on Her Arms†this is a non profit charity that raises awareness for people who suffer with depression and self harming. From the ages of 13 – 15 I suffered from depression and self injury. It took me a long time to trust and open up to anyone but eventually I overcome this. Again, this is something that millions suffer with in silence and that millions are still ignorant to or completely unaware of and I desperately want to change that, so if you have time please visit their site www.twloha.co.uk.
Finally, I support Women’s Aid for Domestic Violence. I support this cause and feel VERY strongly for this because my mother, who is my Idol and someone I love so much had to deal with this and it is totally disgusting and wrong. No one should have to go through anything like this and suffer to the hand of any man or woman. I encourage anyone who is going through this to speak out before it is too late and realise it is not what you deserve! Visit the site www.womensaid.org.uk and please, please, please do whatever you can to help!
I am currently working on writing my own music and a fantastic image and sound which I hope to do very soon! The demo you hear now was recorded when I was only 15 years old, I do hope you like it but at the same time I’m nearly 18 and am in need of a new demo for you all! Hopefully by 2009 I will get what I want done and you’ll see a lovely new page! [=
