In short: Pizza is a skacore (punk-rock-ska) band from Varna, Bulgaria.It all started in 1999 with a several musicians from Varna to take one step beyond the standard rock-stuff played by so many bands. The mix of Punk, Rock and Ska was a logical choice, due to the musical preferences of this group of musicians. Like so many other bands some musicians joined and some left...Why the name Pizza?You might think the members worked at a pizza shop or eat a lot of pizza's... but it's like that... The band is nicknamed after a square in the Sea Garden (a park next to Varna's beach), close to a studio and rehearsal facility, where Pizza (the band) can be found playing. Near this square there use to be a few shops with booze for sale. Of course huge amounts booze were consumed on this square in the Sea Garden, resulting in the creating of 'stomach pizza's'. I guess you can create your own picture without us providing you the details for it, right? Now days the shops with booze are no longer their and only the nickname of the square reminds us of the pizza spectacle of the past.Pizza is still goin' strong, with it's groovy, up tempo and unpolished sound. Even though the sound of the band changed along with it's members, the main influences are still Punk, Rock and Ska. With some tunes a funky vibe can be heard as well.
