Hi there. Not much to say about me. I'm delicious. If you take ham and grind it up and pack it into a loaf with a brown sugar glaze you can make me or my family members. I go good with lotsa stuff, but mostly cheese and potatoes. If you throw me at things I can hurt them for you, I'm generally very hot. Sometimes there are mini-me's wrapped in foil that parents will make for children and give out on Halloween. But this is quite rare. I like to feed people.
You can make me like this!
HAM LOAF OR HAM BALLS
2 lbs. ham loaf mixture OR 1 1/2 lb. ground ham, 1/2 lb. ground veal and 1/2 lb. ground pork
Mix with meat:
1/3 c. grated onion
1/2 c. milk
3/4 c. bread crumbs
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. dry mustard
3/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. ground pepper
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
TOPPING:
1 lb. crushed pineapple, drained
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. cider vinegar
1 tsp. dry mustard
Bring to a boil while stirring.
Balls: Shape meat mixture into small balls for appetizers or larger balls for a meal. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Top with topping and bake 15 minutes more.
Loaf: Put topping in loaf pan. Put ham loaf in pan and bake at 350 degrees for at least 1 hour.
