About Me
Living and working in Melbourne, Australia, Jillian Kiggins has owned an endearing respect for melody and it’s effects. Studying vocals throughout her youth, south of Seattle, she won numerous state awards as well as being selected for the Washington State Music Festival in 1992.-------------------------------------------------------
----Performing jazz was just the benchmark of the influences for the years to come. Shortly after, she relocated to Seattle and formed an ensemble called ‘Torture Pool,’ with Robert Sydow and Jeff McNulty for the next 4 years. In the dark corners of the University District and the alleyways of Pioneer Square you’d find them live, dark and original; engaging in the sounds of industrial shoe gazer. Recording only one EP ‘ Bright Sun, Terrible Sun,’ this group was renowned for their creative and visual live performances. Her foundations of a collective began with the Northwest Electronic Coalition.--------------------------------------------------
---------Jill’s influences broadened even further as she relocated to Australia in 1997. Tapping back into the live scene brought her many different experiences and challenges. From funk, jazz, folk and children’s musical theater, Jill’s appreciation for the wide range of uses for music and it’s therapeutic relevance she was inspired to return to her electronic roots.------------------------------------------------------
-----In 2001 she met Chris Conner and began writing vocal samples online. Music took on an entire different agenda. It became a scripture, a code of communication, unlike any recording she’s ever experienced. Words became movements and movements became words. Uses of her voice were expressed in so many variations, and, with this, defines how she writes today. Instrumental, emotive and symbolism behest.-----------------------------------------------------
------Chris Conner then united with Michael Lanning and together they formed the Sentient Audio Collective and Brahma. While still residing online and communicating across the Pacific, she featured vocals for such releases with Toes In The Sand Recordings: www.toesinthesandrecordings.com2002- Brahma- Even Flow
