Taste

In the late 1960's the Irish group taste with Rory Gallagher on guitar and vocals, John Wilson on drums and Ritchie McCracken on bass, blasted their way around the world playing their own definitive styles of Blues, Rock and R&B.After siging to Polydor, three best selling albums, "Taste", "On the Board" and "Live at Montreaux", many tours and major festival appearances including the legendary "Isle of Wight Festival" and an extensive tour of USA and Canada with the then Eric Clapton band "Blind Faith", and opening along with "Yes" the Cream Farewell Concerts, the band split.They went on to follow their own musical careers.Rory became a successful blues artist fronting his own band until his untimely death in 1996. Ritchie settled in London and became a very indemand session and touring musician. John after four years working in London as a session player returned to Belfast and since then has become a major contributor to the local music scene, not only as a leading session musician in tV, radio, theatre and recording studios but as a gigging musician in the blues, jazz and rock scene.A few years ago in various countries Universal Records releaseed re-mastered CD's of the old Taste albums and following the requested from friends and fans John Wilson along with Belfast guitarist and singer Sam Davidson have been working under the name of "Ta Taste", featuring various bass players including the original Ritchie McCracken.They have embarked on a number of guest appearances in places ranging from Moscow to San Francisco playing new arrangements of the old Taste material and bring early Rory Gallagher material to a new captive audience. These gigs have now led to the band taking it a stage further..... They have an album which was released in July 2006 and a new album coming out later this year. Lastly they have had extensive gig and festival apperances throughout the UK and Europe.
