Born & raised on the south side of Minneapolis, MN, JSL has always had music in his blood. Forming even from small things, such as his family growing up next-door to Prince (The two families even had to share electricity from time to time.), to having nine aunts & uncles around that always had an instrument in hand, this is how a style is born.
Composing music on several instruments since the age of eleven & then later, performing at every event possible with different musical projects, JSL had gained quite a perspective on the music business/scene.
JSL separated from prior musical endeavors in the year 2000 & went on to pursue a solo career with a fresh start. After releasing his debut EP in 2003, JSL has gone on to produce tracks for emcees nation-wide & perform at various events as opportunities arise. With a live set that is more often than not spur of the moment, you're guaranteed to never hear the same set twice.
JSL also works as owner of [301STUDIOS] (an independent electronic/hip-hop record label) & is currently writing the full length follow-up to his debut E.P. "just.", entitled "Score". He also produces tracks for emcees nation-wide & is available for hire through [301STUDIOS]. Serious inquiries only.
