About Me
VISION:
My vision is to apply Torah principles in MUSIC to reach the nations.
GETTING STARTED/TESTIMONY:
My mom did various outreaches, ministering as a singer when I was a young child. She would take my brothers and I with her and we helped her set up and tear down the sound equipment. Since music was always in our home it became a passion for me at a young age. As I grew, I was influenced by my older brothers music which at the time was heavy metal. Since I was heavily involved in the church, I went on a mission trip where I met some guys who introduced me to the world of rap. This genre was definitely way different from the heavy metal I was used to but God pulled on my heart strings and I began to like it. As I discovered various Christian rappers. I was more open to this hip hop genre.
Involved with the youth ministry, God told me to write a rap for the talent show that was coming up. At first I didn't know if I really heard from God, but I had some old equipment my mom used to use and I started recording some lyrics that were on my heart. This was the birth of the first rap I wrote.
From there I started to put together a studio by getting equipment needed to not only record, but also produce music. Music is my passion and I love all the aspects of putting a song together. As I was making beats, thoughts of technicality were running through my head. First build the foundation of the song and then expand on it with new ideas. Leave that in, take that out, drop the music here, bring it back there, add another instrument, add some FX and decide how the song should be mixed with volume control. I started to think of how Hip Hop began the same way and how much it’s changed.
Progressive Hip Hop:
There are 4 basic elements in the world of 'hip hop' that define this unique and very influencial culture.
1. MC (lyrics, poetry, stage presentation)
2. DJ (music, turn-tables, beat, effects)
3. Graffiti
4. Breakdance (dance, clothing, b-boyin', mannerisms)
Hip hop is a culture that is not only a 'rap' put to music, but a lifestyle, an attitude, a language and an ever-increasing unifier of diverse populations. Its ability to cross into many areas of society, illustrates how widespread and popular this genre has become worldwide.
I came up with the idea of 'Progressive Hip Hop' by taking the true elements of Hip Hop and expanding on them. By adding the influence of a Hebrew lifestyle as a 5th element, the culture of Hip Hop can now progress to have a biblical understanding. This will demand attention. Progressive Hip Hop is being noticed…will be noticed…and will never stop! That is the beauty of Progression! To put the icing on the cake, it’s the Spirit of God that keeps it alive.
