About Me

Reclusive cat-owning NY'er with a low attention span for careers. I like to watch. I have a fine arts degree from SUNY Purchase and I'm about to graduate from Brooklyn Law School. In between I was a bike messenger, a photographer and then an internet dot com hustler with a significant but mostly useless skillset. I've got a site here and a blog here .

My Interests

Religion, but not from a user standpoint. I'm a NY Ranger season tix holder for 12+ years (section 317). Former BMX freestyler. Photography. Art. I read lots of lefty blogs, like Jesus' General, The Poor Man, Tbogg, Billmon. But not DKos, which aggravates the hell out of me. I go to the beach in the summer as much as I can, and read there. I'd travel if I had an assload more money.

I'd like to meet:

I've met you all. I'll return shortly with the results.410521

Music:

I let WFMU.org dictate what I listen to, but the 50+ gigs on my iPod would suggest that I'm all over the place. I have 4 versions of Turandot, the entire Dylan catalog, a whole playlist of mid-80s WLIR new wave, a shitload of Dead, lots of Phil Spector produced stuff, lots of alt country (wilco, robbie fulks, neko case, etc.), lots of classical piano, the entire sleater-kinney catalog, early 90s rap, early jazz vocal, aimee mann, southern gospel, etc., etc.

Movies:

For the most part, movies can be divided into two categories: shit or garbage, with rare exceptions. Coen Bros., Scorsese, Kubrick, etc., etc. I'll confine to what's out right now on video that I saw. Thank You For Smoking was mediocre; Prarie Home Companian was good but the fairy subplot was meaningless. V for Vendetta was very good and I hated that other Wachowski thing, the Matrix. Oh, This Film is Not Yet Rated was great. I prefer documentaries in general.

Television:

All the PBS offerings except for those historical reenactment shows. Arrested Development. Office. NY1 in the morning with Pat Kiernan. I like Heroes even though I know I'm going to throw my hands up in disgust somewhere toward the end of the second season (like I did with Prison Break). My TV is defaultingly on either CSPAN channel. Wire in the Blood (UK). Aqua Teen Hunger Force, the new David Cross animated thing. The Simpsons, although it's losing steam and relevancy. South Park, even when it gets all libertarian preachy. Daily Show, Colbert.

Books:

All the Kings Men. All the Hunter S. Thompson books. Saki. I read a lot of non-fiction. I would highly recommend the Krakauer book about the Mormons. I secretly enjoy (I can't believe I'm admitting this) the the George RR Martin series (A Game of Thrones, et al) but let's keep this quiet.

Heroes:

The Cheerleader, Hiro, that Pixie girl (who died! sorry for spoiling), the big Haitian (who has a heart! sorry for spoiling), etc.

amway / quixtar commercial

This is a beautiful parody. For more on Amway, visit my good friend Dave Touretzky's Amway Quixtar page, which has drawn signfiicant legal attention from Amway lawyer drones....

xtc - scarecrow people

In keeping with the secular advent calendar theme, it'd have been too easy to post XTC's "Dear God," so I dug around for something more subtle, but in the same agnostic vein that XTC has always mainta...
