"Spirit, poetry, drama and lyric beauty based on a visualized music are Isadora Duncan..s generous gift to the World. Her Art should be more felt than understood." -Anna DuncanGet Your Own! | View SlideshowFrancesca was born in the italian region of Switzerland (Canton Ticino) to very italian parents and grew up in between the two extraordinary countries. From an early age she never sat still. Because of her constant moving, jumping, running, climbing up everywhere and constantly falling all over, her parents signed her up for gymnastic classes in hopes of giving some form and structure to her restlessness.Gymnastics was a great and happy release for her, but she still wasn't satisfied...so after many years of gymnastics, and many many dreams, she found that movement should be part of her constant life in some kind of artistic form and started studying dance in Switzerland. She later moved to Germany and the U.S., where she deepened her knowledge and started dancing with dance companies. She discovered that studying and combining the passion for the arts of dance, music, visual arts, poetry and theater was what would fulfill one's artistic and philosophical way of life.Since 2000 she is has been a dancer with Catherine Gallant/DANCE and a member of Dances by Isadora, exploring the repertoire and legacy of Isadora Duncan, a woman whose life and works inspired Francesca to her core. She later became a member of Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble, a NYC based dance company performing Anna Sokolow’s repertory as well as new works by guest choreographers. With this company a new level of artistry was discovered; theater dance. Fascinating!!With these companies she toured nationally and internationally. In 2004, while touring France, she had the pleasure of working, teaching and dancing on many wonderful stages with french musicians of “le concert impromptu”, a wind quintet based in Paris.Over the years she has found inspiration in the classical modern dance style and theater/dance form, particularly those of Doris Humphrey, Jose Limon, Anna Sokolow and Isadora Duncan's styles. The lives of these people and their deep understanding of human psychology forever changed her life. She has been fortunate to study for many years with exceptional teachers, including Jim May, Betty Jones, Catherine Gallant, Loretta Thomas, the late Julia Levien, to mention a few. She has performed in repertoire by Isadora Duncan, Jose Limon, Charles Weidman and Anna Sokolow, among others. In 2006 she was a guest artist with Mare Nostrum Elements Movement Theater with a production at "La Mama" in NYC and Christine Jowers Moving Arts Project, and worked with Argentinean choreographer Anabella Lenzu.Besides performing, Francesca holds children dance classes both in English and Italian, in Manhattan, Hoboken and Brooklyn, and travels to teach dance classes in Italy, Switzerland and France. She hopes to extend her teachings to other countries.Another cultivated passion is in the interest of alternative medicine and therapies, including homeopathy, reflexology and the philosophy of oriental medicine. During the past years she became certified in the practice and teachings of shiatsu, a Japanese bodywork technique based on oriental medicine. Her hope is that one day, she will be able to give everything back to humanity by combining all of these gift and opening an art and wellness center. She would like to thank all the people that during her life crossed her path and with their love, criticism, advices, support, kicks in the butt!, inspired and helped her in so many ways.Get Your Own! | View SlideshowGet Your Own! | View SlideshowGet Your Own! | View SlideshowGet Your Own! | View Slideshow
