Andrew Wotman hails from Long Island, New York. From the age of two he was harmonizing with the music on the radio while in his car seat. His Father exposed him to the roots of rock and roll at an early age. While his friends were listening to boy band pop, he was listening to the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and the Who. Not only was he drawn to rock music, but funk and hip hop as well.
At the Age of 11 he bought his first instrument - a bass guitar - and the music has been pumping through his veins and out his guitar ever since. In addition to guitar and bass, Andrew's musical prowess extends to the piano, the drums, and several other instruments. Some may call it an obsession, but to those who know him it is merely his way of expressing what lies deep in the soul of a natural artist of sound.
In the Fall of 2006 he started recording his debut album with two members of the band Silvertide (J Records) as his producers. These cats were none other than Kevin Frank and Mark Melchiorre Jr. They recorded at BackYard Studios in Northeast Philadelphia. All songs and lyrics were written by Andrew Wotman, as well as all instruments played on the album (save drums by Kevin Frank and occasional guitars and Keyboards by Mark Melchiorre Jr). The debut release - ON MY OWN - is available on iTunes now!
Recently, Andrew Wotman has begun work on the material for his follow up to "On My Own". He has been playing shows both acoustically and with his band around the NYC area, as well at a Monday night jam at the now closed Cutting Room and The Bitter End with world renowned saxophonist Richie Cannata. You can also catch him occasionally sitting in as a guitarist with The Roots at their weekly jam. Come see Andrew live and you will be connected to a fresh new sound that stems from the all-time rock and funk greats, with just a touch of soul that is sure to please your ears.
