Still love to Rave a night away on occasions and playing some old house, breakbeat rave/jungle, drum n bass classics has its time and place and always will as far as I'm concerned. The old rave scene,London pirate radio station (cool, rush Fm etc) /party scene was what got me into Djing. I used to stay with my Gran in Hackney when i was a youngster (1991-93) and record the radio shows. They were playing the breakbeat, sample packed "rave/hardcore/jungle techno" that especially in areas like Hackney morphed progressively with the reggae/ragga of Jamaican culture into "Jungle" and then "Drum n Bass". Which became the distinctive predominant sound of late 90s London urban culture). On those Pirates in 92 at least they were playing those tunes at a much faster tempo then what was being spun at my local raves, legal and illegal in the lush hills of S. Devon. 'Respect' out to those Dj's that moved a generation "for real on the wheels of steel"!! Top Buzz, Carl Cox, Bukem, Fabio, Groove Rider, JJ Frost, Ellis D, Ratty... Randall, Hype,...... the Original Universe Crew (Bath) Mc/Dj Ribbs.big Love to one and all. Peace!!
