About Me

Brian's music career began in 1996 in San Diego, CA as the second guitarist / keyboardist for the rock band Liquid Groove. LG had quite a lot of early success as it won two San Diego Music Awards for Best Rock Act and Record of the Year. At that time, the recording of a second release began with guitar legend Floyd Rose in the producer's chair. 'Inside This Radio' was the result of 7 hard months in the studio. A record deal with EMI and tours followed. After a shift in mangement and a member shake-up Brian parted ways with Liquid Groove to expand his role as a songwriter and moved to San Francisco, CA. That is where Brian fronted the Alt-Rock band 730. In a very short period of time, 730 built a fan base and was widley considered to be the "next big thing". It was very crazy how fast it happened. Lots of shows and music followed. With Atlantic Records waiting for the finish of the record - the band imploded. Each member wanting to do other things. Evenutally Brian moved to Hollywood and struck out on his own. He began Co-writing music for other bands and projects he also produced two records for other artists. Brian has since moved to Toronto to be closer to family. There is a rumour that we may look forward to him playing some music soon. THE FOLLOWING IS A BIO FOR 730 -------- Featuring four talented rock musicians from San Francisco- and San Diego-based bands, 730 is the latest Northern California rock band to burst onto the music scene in the city built on rock and roll. Many bands have a history of being founded by one or two of its members, but 730 is a whirlwind story of a band that really just fell into place in a matter of weeks with barely any time to be “founded.” The story began with a popular Bay area modern rock band that came to an end in February, 2000. “I really wanted to move my music in a more commercial musical direction,” explained Scott Kahn, 730’s guitar player. “A week before my last band Forbidden Planet came to an end, I ran into John Horne at a party in downtown San Francisco, and he was telling me that his last band had split up -- he was really eager to find a new project to sink his bass into.” Having played together in their previous band, Hangar 18, it was only natural that the two musicians move forward on a new band project. “Scott played some demos for me of the new music he was writing,” John recounted, “and it was just the right kind of catchy and edgy alternative rock that I knew I’d enjoy playing with him.” Scott and John immediately set out to find a new drummer and lead vocalist for their as-yet unnamed band. While the first drummer that 730 performed with ultimately didn’t work out, Scott and John made an incredible find in vocalist/guitarist Brian Beatty. Brian came to the Bay area from San Diego where he had fronted the popular rock band, The Odyssey Calling. Brian also played guitar in Liquid Groove – a very well known San Diego band that tours the entire West coast. When asked what it was about 730 that drew him in, Brian responded, “Very simple. Great musicians with whom to write some great songs. I really feel like this group of people can do all the right things to take San Francisco by surprise.” “Brian was such a good fit for this project,” says Kahn. “Combining my darker modern-rock edge with Brian’s phenomenal alternative/pop songwriting and captivating singing, we’ve been able to come up with such incredible music so effortlessly.” When 730’s first drummer quit the band two weeks prior to a big show at San Francisco’s Lost & Found Saloon, rescue came in the form of Brian’s longtime friend, Gustavo Peraza III. Gustavo was the drummer for Southern California’s popular Natasha’s Ghost, and when he heard from Brian about 730’s drummer situation, he packed up a spare drum kit and drove up to the Bay area to rehearse with the band in order to make sure their show would be a big success 10 days later. The show proved so incredible that Gustavo left Natasha’s Ghost, packed up his belongings a week later, and relocated to the Bay area to become 730’s permanent drummer. Great reviews of 730’s live performances have been unwavering. “The comment we get from everyone who hears our new music is ‘Wow. I can’t believe you haven’t been playing together for years!’“ says Kahn, “But when you take a group of experienced and talented musicians with a common musical vision and a drive to succeed in the rock music world, great sounding rock music is what you get.” With a steady stream of shows lined up this summer, expect to hear 730 taking over the San Francisco club scene real soon.
