DYAZIDE

About Me

Dyazide, also known as Tom Lemaistre, first found interest in dance music in 1998 when he got a set of pioneer cd decks for his birthday. It was only then that he discovered a love for playing music at loud volumes. Accompanied with speakers the size of a small sofa Dyazide began his long journey into the world of underground music.
In 2000 things slowed down for Tom, with a failing garage scene and a hip hop scene that was turning mainstream, his interest in music and djing began to slow. It was only then when all things seemed at an end that tom was eventually introduced to drum and bass. Being taken to a very small local venue in his home town of Watford he found first heard a style of dance music that really took him by suprise. Dark rolling drum and bass immediately appealed to Dyazide, with its flowing varied percussion and its snarling low end sub bass, he instantly formed a bond with all beats rugged.
It wasn’t until the end of his first drum and bass night that he met the group of djs mixing at that gig. One of them (known as Dj KLR) handed him a mix tape, which in turn created a new relationship with new fresh music minds. Dyazide started to show a natural talent for mixing drum and bass, with a creative edge over his counterparts. His attention to detail began to show even in the early days, and his friendships with his fellow Watford dnb heads flourished.
In the following months he invested in some vinyl decks (numarks) and began the expensive but worthwhile spiral into drum and bass heaven. He mixed every day and most nights, developing his skills and furthering his knowledge.
In 2000 tom started up a drum and bass group called Mute:8. This consisted of 4 members (Kraf-d, KLR, Alleykat, and Dyazide). As a group they worked on developing their own drum and bass night and they began to start producing their own tunes.
2001 spelled a lucrative year for dyazide, with a new hunger for producing his own music, not just drum and bass, he purchased his first laptop and copy of Reason Music Studio. It was then that dyazide first encountered Smyla whilst raving in Nottingham at the notorious Detonation. With his own Mute:8 group slowly dispanding he found a new source for his creativity. He Began djing in Nottingham at Kombination Funk, quickly gaining residency and establishing his name in the city which he lived 2 hours from. Kombination Funk was the main contributer to his underlining need for heavier music. As his taste developed so did his record box and so did his production, drawing influences from up and coming 2002 producers such as Black Sun Empire, Keaton, Twisted Indervidual, and also the well established ones such as Fierce, Dillinja, Optical, Cause 4 Concern, Bad Company and Kemal.
Defining a sound and stamping it all over the ground he walked dyazide wrang rampant for the following years, starting up Brutal recordings with Kombination Funk co founder Lowkey and a number of other Nottingham Producers. His music spread from club to club and onto the airwaves, taking part in a prime time slot on Kunninmindz.com on Friday nights from 7-10pm. For the best part of 3 years Kunninmindz, Kombination Funk, and Brutal Records was the breeding ground for Dyazide and his lumpy sound. And it was not until 2006- 2007 that he stepped back from internet radio and his co founded Brutal to work on his solo career.
