books (history, ficton, esoterica, or just about anything lately), music, comics, gaming, movies, drinking, socializing and general carousing. As well as a multitude that are probably escaping my attention. And being right. I love that.
The zany, the madcap, and the mentally destitute!
I like music. I tend to be a rock kid, with an appreciation for hip-hop, rap, soul, country, and classical. Not the biggest fan of opera in the world, and yodeling has never been interesting to me. I like some of the Scottish bands like the Delgados, Arab Strab, Belle and Sebastian, and Snow Patrol, as well good old rock like the Stones, the Who, and the Kinks. Also, I am a big fan of Firewater, Tom Waits, and most things that don't suck.
Huge movie buff...I love movies. Even Ishtar. I will sit through nearly any movie at least once, unless Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich are involved. They are war criminals, and will one day be made accountable for their foul deeds. I have a soft spot for romantic comedies, with my favorite being a film called Still Breathing. Six or seven other people seem to have seen this, so I know I didn't imagine it. I grew up on Star Wars, but hate the new ones. I also think Peter Jackson did a fairly good job with his Lord of the Rings movies, though I still prefer the books. By the way, Sin City rocked me so hard my socks actually blew a hole through the floor when they shot off.
I've pretty much stopped watching television, because everything I truly enjoy gets canceled. Or starts to suck, like The West Wing. I do, however, have this weird, deeply rooted love of serial television. I love watching a story build and unfold over the course of several episodes...it's addictive, and really hits on the storyteller in me. Fuck, don't I sound like a pretentious boy princess.
I really like books. Most boring non-fiction, and any copies of the DaVinci code I happen upon, are use to prop up furniture or fill holes in masonry. Good books, which can range from non-fiction to literature to dorky fiction works and kids books, always has a home in my house. I like to think of my place for as a halfway house for reading material, where the pretty ones move on to be adopted by others while the less attractive and the quiet ones linger on my shelves, loved by only me. Perusing my shelves, you'll find Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Tolkien, Brust, Joyce, Seuss, and a host of others in the fiction sections. For non fiction, it's mainly books on history, mythology, sociology, folklore, and the esoteric. I'm a dork, and love me the books.
Well, basically, I'm a big fan of...well, nobody, really. I am my own best and worst example. Except for whoever it was that invented cheese food. That fucker had some seriously mad skills, and I am in awe of his ability to take something so much like food and turn it into a food food. That is seriously so potent power.
