"Jack Michaels is still so young, at the same time I can put him .. the big house stars like Sanchez and Junior Jack & Kid Creme and have total confidence that he will play what is required for such difficult slots" Damian Gelle (South West Four / Lock n Load / PUSH)
In a time when more pairs of decks are sold across the world than electric guitars, how does an aspiring DJ manage to outshine thousands of others? Well when you’ve got a killer tune selection, amazing mixing skills, tons of charisma and boundless energy like 20 year old Jack Michaels, it’s a lot easier. Spearheading the next generation of young, determined DJ stars, Michaels has become one of the most exciting new names on the house/electro scene in London over the past couple of years.
His ascent is a rapid one, but one that is totally justified given his impressive skills, determination and hard-working attitude. His enthusiasm and passion for DJing is clear for all to see when he’s bouncing around behind the decks, working the mixer hard and teasing the crowd with his saucy blend of electro and banging tech house.
"Jack has been a key figure in my line-ups for 2007. His performance is second to none with a killer track selection. 2008 will be his year!" Richard Smith
In 2007, with his reputation spreading like wildfire, he has rocked Space at The Cross, helped to celebrate 20 Years of House at The Island, stoked up the main room at Fire It Up! at KOKO, tore the PUSH Boat Party to pieces, played the main room at Pacha for Eivissa, and warmed-up the main room at Release Yourself, also at KOKO. Sharing the stage and warming-up for huge DJs like Roger Sanchez, Norman Jay, Eddie Halliwell, Sarah Main, Junior Jack and Kid Crème has afforded him a wealth of experience that helps to make him a versatile and skilled DJ who can adapt to any set time.
2007 has also saw him set up Grin Recordings with some close DJ/producer friends, with his collaboration with Joe Liuzza, ‘Da Choppa’, finding favour with the likes of Tim Sheridan. The label has got off to a flying start, with tracks available through all the top download sites – including Beatport and iTunes – with regular off-the-hook parties at Clapham’s Inigo Bar and an unforgettable Grin in Ibiza boat part spreading word of the label throughout clubland. Grin returns to Ibiza next year in conjunction with HeatUK for their legendary Ibizan Heat Tour.
