About Me

MyGen Profile Generator This guitar solo performance project has most of its roots in Robert Fripp's Guitar Craft seminars. It emerged from the ground in june 2006 for the "Fêtes de la Musique" in Mons (Belgium).
Its live repertoire consists in revisited JS Bach pieces and own variable-structure compositions. It lies somewhere at the crossroads between classical, rock and ambient music.

Notes about the pieces:
Most of the pieces presented here have less than one hour between conception and recording.
Sky x, 10 Janvier 2009 : Improvised on 10 Jan 2009 evening. Something had come to a stop.
Sky 3, Eccentric Upward Spiral : Improvised, as usual. The result of experimenting with the guitar-synth arpegiator. One single stereo track, one single take.
Sky 3, The Motion of Her Eyes Makes the World Spin Around her : I think the influence of Eno is quite obvious here. Improvised, as usual. The result of experimenting with the guitar-synth 4-tap delay. Two stereo-tracks, one take each.
Sky 0, MelaMelancholy : MelaMelancholy. Yet another improv resulting from sound exploration. Sounds sad? Well, that's probably because I was at the time this music came through me. One single stereo track, one single take.
Neuron Collision (part 1 & 2) : Improvised (synth-)guitar over a simple disco-like bass and drum line. This is clearly unpolished raw material with many glitches. But it was so fun... This may well become part of Act Talk Bali 's repertoire one day.
Sky 2, Remanence of God on the Way to Sky 3 : Improvised on 14th Dec 06. Two stereo-tracks, one take each. I wish my recording material was better. The least I can say is that this is minimal playing. Ambience doesn't need much. The title is inspired from a picture kindly sent to me one month before :
Sky 2, Temper Analysis : At the origin is a thing I usually do: Strung a chord and press the "Hold" key on this arpeggiated sound. This gives me a short repetitive loop on which I can improvise. This time the loop had something special in it, probably due to an unexpected harmonic resulting from a badly placed finger. I realized I would not be able to reproduce it intentionally. So I quickly went upstair to pick up my recording material (an old 4-track tape recorder), plugged everything in while the loop was going on. And here we go: Find the basic motif and build upon it, establishing a kind of dialog between the higher notes and the lower ones. Try it for a few minutes, find another simple motif with a floating guitar sound then record.
Sky 1, Gate 16 : This short piece came up as I was experimenting with piano sounds on my guitar synth. The parts between the reccurring motif are improvised. The influence of Eno/Budd is obvious here.
Sky 1, At Night : This piece is the outcome of another sound experimentation coupled with a way of playing involving up and down rapid slides on the higher strings while the lower C and E gives the improvisation base.
