Simian Gibbons and the Vengeful Winds of the North

About Me

These are songs I recorded when I was 16-17. New ones pending.Simian Gibbons awoke one day on the muddy banks of the Colorado River with no memory of his past or why he was there, only a piece of paper that held the faint inscription "milk, eggs, pop rocks, slurpee" and the knowledge that he was Simian Gibbons and he was meant to change the world. Simian hiked into town and soon started playing in bands. Growing more fidgety in his strange human clothes and increasingly suspicious of his mostly cock-rocking bandmates, he struck out on his own and formed Simian Gibbons and the Furious Winds of the North. However, all was not well in furiouswindsville. As soon as their first demo track was cut, key band member Grandpa Microphone quit the band and soon after died from old age complicated by a fatal overdose of love and nutmeg. Simian seized the opportunity, reassembling the remaining members into the hazy glory that is Simian Gibbons and the Vengeful Winds of the North. It's music to melt your teeth and warm your heart. Sometimes Simian wishes he was Bill Callahan. Sometimes Simian wishes he was Serge Gainsbourg.

Sounds Like: Under the Coffin, Nearest the Lull, The Kane Boys, Cadavers General, The Happy Sunshine Lollipop Consortium Funtime Hour Glee Band, and generally none of Simian's influences. Dadaist childrens' music. The Ewoks. A tribute to the common man as referenced directly and through the use of simple metaphors involving insects. Cowboys with power tools. Things that are common and important. Best pals. Love sprinkled with jealousy and a hint of paprika. Boredom or joy. More Ewoks, because none of those other things are really particular sounds.
