Conceived in Adelaide, Australia in January 2001, Insect Seeking Technology may well have been the first band born of that new year. As comforting and meaningless as this was IST had no grand plans of chart domination, million dollar video clips and mass-groupie-head-sex.Soon IST had a set of songs ready to aurally pleasure the punters of the marijuana capital of Australia, and how they enjoyed the experimental collective of alternative metal, funk and drum n bass. In June 2001 this then seven peice recorded their first demo EP.IST rearranged its line up after the recording, losing three but gaining Tom 'the sax machine' which added a whole new dimension to the noise they were making. Toms jazz and funk influences helped forge a sound which was truly their own. Sonic refinement was achieved. Many gigs were played. In February 2004 IST frequented the studio, recording five songs which would become their first official, self-titled EP.The band can't escape its twisted roots in sounds of anti-pop; their inebriated music, both danceable and hummable, is perfect for rainy sleepy nights or violent, frenzied love making. However, Insect Seeking Technology are a band that do not fall into any category known to the listening public of the world and therefore may offend those out there who are content with the musical meals they are fed over the airwaves.
