About Me

Barry The Bass Player is a long time Chicago music scene veteran. Playing everything from Cool Jazz to Hard Rock to Disco? But really enjoys playing Funk and Motown grooves. Equally at home on stage and in the studio, Barry has performed on several records, produced and engineered several others, and played countless shows around the United States over the past twenty something years.Barry's credits include working with acts such as Planet Von, Frank Lucas, Not The Joneses, Zero Defekts, Randolph Von Riesen, Studio Whiz Andy Gucwa, Mike Moseke, Studio Great Jeff Murphy, Vince Consolo, Rick Kurek, Corporate Show Band "7deez", Laurie Carins, Born Naked, as well as many credited and uncreated studio appearances.Over the years Barry has warmed up for many well known acts such as, Jan Hammer, Journey, Jordan Rudess, Keith Emmerson, Dave Urich, James Young, Roger O'Donnell, Audio Adrenaline, Bill Dickens, and many others.Barry is currently working with Keyboard great Frank Lucas and his much acclaimed LWE project. "Live performance with Frank is a challenge" states Barry, "It pushes me to the limits of my ability". Having long time NTJ band mate Vince Consolo on the drums is a plus, "We just know what the other one is going to do, and that makes difficult material that much easier to pull off live".Barry is also a member of long time Chicago act "Not The Joneses" and enjoys performing their witty, powerful, pop-rock tunes. "The band started in the early 90's and I had seen them several times". When the opportunity to play with them came up in 1998 I jumped at the chance". "I don't really write or record with NTJ, but they have such great songs, I love to perform them live".Barry is currently working on material for his first "Solo" release. "I've been playing so much lately, things are moving kind of slow right now, but check back for updates"."When it really comes down to it," Barry says, "I just like to play!" http://www.barrythebassplayer.com
