Young Maine aka the Maine G

About Me

After finding that "life is much sweeter in an octive lower," Young Maine set his sights on rightfully earning his crown as one of the most talented artist of all time. Within an industry pursued after by so many, a "true talent" would defiantly have to distinguish himself from the rest, and do so in a fashion that would be undeniable to even non-listeners of his genre. While dealing with worry (for his frequently ill mother working 3 jobs), and stress (due to poverty and his drug pedaling), the constant endowment of musicianship would be the light needed to enable him a clear view of his success to come.Born as the youngest into a musical family of 6 (in Galesburg, Illinois), Young Maine (the Maine G) quickly learned to hone his "one man band" of skills at an early age. Under the strict instruction of mother (Evangelist Evora Baker), Young Maine exercised his vocals as lead singer in many youth and adult choirs before turning 8. By age 10, he had mastered the art of vocal control and became a pro on the drums, playing professionally for local, district, and state choirs of Illinois and Indiana. It wasnt long after falling in love with drumming before he was drawn to guitar, keys, and the instrumentation of writing songs. His mother (Evangelist Evora Baker) was an elite choir director, strict disciplinarian, and exceptional down south gospel singer who turned down an opportunity to tour the country with a Major Gospel Recording Artist, due to the ages of her young children. After self teaching YM how to read his first word, she began enrolling him in a string of educational ventures...-Hope Head Start, for excelled youth -Her own local, district, and state plays for C.O.G.I.C. -Excelled Classes for School 68 Elementary -School 68 Annual Spelling Bee -First Formed Math/Science/Technology Magnet for Shortridge Middle School -Telecommunications Magnet, where he was top of his class for 5 years -Upward Bound College Prepatory Program....as part of an attempt to protect his future, and to get him a ticket out of their low income, and drug infested project housing." I remember as a child, my mother would constantly pray and annoit over my head and my hands; she would ask God to shower me with a rare and remarkable talent that especially would be used for his glory. She constantly would remind me that i was a miracle baby (due to seizures before the age of 1 that led doctors to believe i would be a mentally challenged child who would need to be cared for).... After her and my former paster prayed for me, My mother stated that I never had a seizure again! With that being said, i know i was put here especially to touch people greatly with my music from God."His older sisters (Tammy, Terressa, and Angela) were experienced female vocalist ranging from high soprano, soprano, and alto. They were hand picked vocalist requested to sing in local, district, and state choirs across illinois and indiana. His older brothers (Tyrone "Ty the Hustla" and Michael "Pepper" Townsell) were both experienced producers and engineers. Ty (the oldest) helped cultivate Young Maine's penmanship from a rapper stand point who often wrote heart warming poetry, and showed him the business side of how to manage an artist and company. Pepper helped spark YM's creative side in the world of producing and also vocal projection along with the proper knowledge of an artist/producer's publishing rights. The two had over a decade of experience with producing and cultivating artist, which is where YM got his start at assisting in writing, composing vocal arrangements, and producing for other artist at the age of 13.After over 15 years of working from behind the scenes as an humble but undeniably gifted force, Young Maine set his sights on rightfully earning his crown as one of the most talented artist of all time. When questioned about being so mult-talented (businessman, producer, engineer, rap/sing) he replies, "I have no worries or 2nd thoughts about doin me. (grins) Im the type that doesnt tell everything, but in so many words, im not worried about my street credibility if thats what your referring to." When asked who three of his favorite artist are, and what his main genre of music is YM replies, "(outside of my own family,) James Moore, John Mayer, and Jay-z.""To be honest, Im from the struggle so i obviously represent the streets, But im a representation of so much more. Being a true musician has allowed me to be diverse and universal to the point where I can relate to any "real individual." I love diversity. (he smiles) Im an originated church made musician, from the church and street, with no genre big enough 2 lock me in it. I produce all styles of music (pop, gospel, alternative, r&b, u name it). But since most of my own work under Young Maine is hiphop/r&b, I guess u can label me as an hip hop artist. Much love, and blessings to you and yours."»-(¯..v..¯)-» Design your MySpace with MyLook «-(¯..v..¯)-«»-(¯..v..¯)-» Design your MySpace with MyLook «-(¯..v..¯)-«
