STEVE SMITH & HARD ROAD bring the traditional sounds of Old-time, Bluegrass, Gospel and Modern Folk, blending in original instrumental and vocal work to create the modern/retro sounds of the string band HARD ROAD. Strong vocals and virtuosic instrumentals are the result of veteran players meeting up with several talented newcomers.We were awarded the best instrumental ("Sheepherder's Stove") and best religious/gospel ("State of Grace") at the 2006 New Mexico Music Awards. Both appear on MEET ME BY THE RIVER, our debut CD on the Desert Night label.
