About Me

This page serves as a memorial to Mr. Harrison W. Bentley, Jr., known to the internet set as “The Infamous Dr. Who”. Harrison Wesley Bentley Jr. was born on January 22, 1977 and retired to his place with the Father on September 5, 2006. In the time that ran between these two dates he was a member of the Beta Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., and various other organizations. He completed a degree in Psychology at Clark-Atlanta University and went on to begin studies for a Master’s degree in Public Administration.

Harrison was a Son, a Father, a Nephew, Cousin, Brother, Companion and Friend. In each of these roles he served as a man of integrity, honesty, love and compassion. He left an indelible mark on the lives of all who crossed his path and we are all the better for it. Weep not for Harrison ’s death, but instead pay tribute to his life by what you do with yours. What we witness now is not the extinguishing of a flame, but the passing of a torch. Carry that torch well and earn a seat at the table that God, our Father has prepared for him in heaven.

Harrison firmly believed "One man may not be able to change the world, but one stone can effect the whole lake"

Be that stone and create a great ripple!

The poem posted on this page was written by Jelani Wilson, a college friend and lifetime brother to Harrison. It was read at his homegoing ceremony

on September 9, 2006.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Untitled

Written by Jelani Wilson

When I think of our golden days,

I have to remind myself that you’re gone,

Still feeling ten-digits away

Remembering when we were men

growing into being men,

And how parallel we were then,

Understanding each other

Like alternate reflections in the mirror.

Through first loves,

Serendipitous misadventures,

Writhing heartache, and the teetering feeling of loss.

We bore our scars proudly,

Celebrated narrow escapes,

Shared triumph, and then with age,

the parallels grew apart

Into paths to wherever

Life had decided to lead us,

One blind step at a time.

When I think of how you found me again,

Some weeks before your last steps

Into the warm embrace at the end of life,

I have to wonder if you

Somehow saw through the darkness and knew,

Even if it never rose to conscious thought

Because it wasn’t just me you found again

It wasn’t just me.

And in that last time we talked

And laughed and remembered,

Our diverged paths became parallel again

For your last steps

I now know that will not be the last time we speak.

For when it is my time

To take my last blind steps,

I wholly expect to meet you again

With a laugh and a sigh

In that place where all paths converge.
