25 years = me & frat boy? holy hare krishna!
..
of course i can be hurt. however, i cannot be broken. believe me: it's been tried. many times. no one -- and i mean NO ONE -- is harder on me ... than me. i AM my toughest critic. and despite years of taking the hits (from me and others), i keep moving forward. unbreakable.
Rocky Balboa - When Life Hits You
"i'm a f* lighthouse, man! i stay lit for you! i stay lit! i never go dark! NEVER go dark!"
-Robert Boyd (Christian Slater)
“Very Bad Things”
People who know me well will say that the first thing they notice about me are two muscles -- one: behind the rib cage, and two: between the ears.
My kids mean the world to me. I raised my ex's daughter as my own since she was two in 1990 (now 21), but recently has refused to talk with me after the 2006 divorce. She calls another man (who never, ever raised her ... much less his own kids) dad -- not because of love for him, but rather, anger at me; it's her way of showing loyalty to her mom.
My son (b.1996) & I have ALWAYS shared a special bond, and that won't change -- despite others' efforts. He's already been lied to many times from the other side, and has called the person(s) out on those, confirming the lies.
Sad, but true.
Both of my kids have a mommy (my ex) and a daddy (yours truly), but only one parent (yours truly). Being the only parent means being the unpopular one ... as it did, often; nonetheless, I took the role seriously, as I NEVER put my kids on the back burner -- and was ALWAYS there for them.
Some people have no idea what that is like (because past facts never lie), but my kids -- daughter, too (like it, or not, Tiffany) -- know I speak the truth. And even though she would never admit it publicly (because it would require truthfulness), my ex knows this as well.
My 2009 career path will most likely take my son out of our majority of time we share together, but this will only be temporary ... and I can live with THAT knowledge. Bottom line: it won't be long before he is back with me on an even more regular basis. And yes, that WILL happen. Until then ...
I'm a mix between (Jeff) Spicoli and Stallone.
One side of familia is surfing and sailing,
while the other side (aka the Jewish jungle)
is weightlifting and wailing!
FOUR HERNIAS COULDN'T KEEP THIS HORSE DOWN
(see January 2008 blog entry)
It was nothing compared to 132nd & Budlong.
Believe me: there was no "Garden" in Gardena
(Zuma Michael ... back in the day ...)
and WAY back in the day ...
I've spent my young years on both sides of the tracks; lived in ghetto & great 'hoods.
Fortunately, I was blessed with a thug-tough, street-smart pop from the East ... and a nuturing, book-smart mom from the West.
Enter Mad Dog (the mutt) ...
(now for Zuma Michael, today ... )

To My Daughter: What You Need To Know & Before I Go

THE NEW STOCK MARKET

To take a page from my friend Penelope and her infamous 80s movie, most of us (even I) fell prey to the 'decline of the western (financial) civilization' in the form of the U.S. stock market.  Formerl...
