Hi, Paul here. Please check out my bands, CHILL - The Party Band and Reflex:The Definitive 80s Tribute
I've been performing on the circuit for 24 years, both solo and with a variety of bands. Some have enjoyed cult success, some have been good, some have been crap! My current band "Chill" is by far the most successful of the lot.
Over the years I've penned my fair share of songs - some have enjoyed cult success, a few have been OK, a lot have been crap!
I've worked with a lot of other musicians over the years - some have gone on to achieve success, some deserved it but didn't get it, and a few were crap!
Besides those I currently work with in Chill and Dark Side Of The Moon, I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank (in no particular order) Phil McHardy, Seffy, Sarah Turner, The A31 Girls (Sot, Lemon & Franner), Pete Greenwood, Gary Cleaver, Steve Thornley, Nathan & Luke Adams, Neal Martin, Rob Paull, Phil Edwards, Iain Mathieson, Carl Ashwin and Jamie Pinnow, all of whom I have worked with at some point and am very grateful to, for one reason or another.
In 1990, having split with the umpteenth line up of Dancing With Angels, I decided to get a drum machine (Alesis HR16), a synth (Roland D10) and an Atari ST, and I set about creating my own virtual band that would play what I wanted, when I wanted, and wouldn't argue with me! (Little did I know that computers always argue, whine and generally screw up your workflow!!!). Several upgrades later and I'm working with a rack load of gear, virtual synths, samplers and drum machines coming out of my ears, and a top notch laptop that still likes to think that it's in charge! (I'm just about to upgrade to one of those smashing Carillon rack PCs, which I hope will last me for the next twenty years!)
However, it was thanks to me joining this never ending learning curve that I was asked to join Pink Floyd tribute, "Dark Side Of The Moon" in 1995 - at that stage using two Ataris, a 4 track tape recorder, a few bits of sticky tape, a lot of wires and a wing and a prayer!!! Since then I've made it my mission to marry modern music technology with live musicians, which we've now successfully done with Chill.
In the meantime, I sit around at home, surrounded by this monster that I've created, trying to come up with original tunes that somebody might like - occasionally I record something that my girlfriend likes, on rare occasions I record something that I like, but often I end up with crap!
That said, I will use this space to air my musical doodlings from time to time, and I hope that you'll take pity on me. For now, I've put up a couple of songs from CHILL, and a couple of my own.
