About Me

AMAZIAH is a singer/songwriter whose music is deeply moving and her voice a pleasure to hear. Vocally trained from a young age, her music is both Soulful and Spiritual but it..s her love of harmony that has been the driving force behind her exploration of sound.

Amaziah began her path of exploration from her humble beginnings singing in the church choir as a child. It has led her all the way to her more recent tours with many international artists.

Her first band Blue Mirage were a Reggae Funk outfit and were touted by many A&R managers from several major labels as the band to watch. While on holiday in the U.S. she briefly visited New York..s infamous School of Performing Arts and her interest in music was re-kindled.

When she returned to the UK, more equipped and confident in her abilities, she worked with several London-based bands and as a solo performer Amaziah has appeared in numerous shows and became an in-demand voice- over artist.

Amaziah joined The Rockstones Reggae band and further developed her love of Roots music. As lead vocalist and writer on many of their self-produced songs, they went on to record their stunning debut album ..The Headcorner Stone.. for new lablel: IHVH Muzic. This album was an instant hit with many local stations playing Amaziah..s poignant songs and received particular acclaim in Italy, topping the Italian Reggae charts for 5 weeks.

She supported legendary artists such as African superstar Lucky Dube, as well as a variety of Jamaican greats such as Bunny Wailer, King Sounds, Prince Lincoln, The Mighty Diamonds, Chakademus and Pliers, and more contemporary artists such as: Don Ricado, Vincent Nap and many more. She honed her performance skills over several years and toured the world with many internationally renowned artists such as Max Romeo, Alton Ellis and The Ethiopians doing their backing vocals.

Amaziah took a break from Reggae to pursue her first love: Jazz. Performing with Jazz Pianist, Mark Risi, she has made several appearances at numerous Jazz clubs across London. The Intercontinental Hotel, Park Lane, The White House, Regents Park and No.1 The Strand , being just a few of the venues.

Amaziah..s backing band The 1ness are an essential part of her new work. Together they have been building on their expanding reputation for excellence and picking up new fans everytime they play.

Her love of classic song writing and her years in Reggae and Jazz gave Amaziah the confidence to create a new sound for a new generation. Her music is more than melding different genre..s together, but is more about creating classic song writing with a wider appeal. Amaziah..s amazing songs have been quickly turned into popular anthems turning audiences into fans where ever she plays.

Amaziah..s music is about love, unity and peace in all communities. Her voice transcends the mundane and has a gentle yet firm quality that brims with emotion, teamed with her positive outlook, her voice brings a great deal of warmth and vitality to all who have the pleasure to hear a true artist at work. Amaziah..s approach to music comes from an age old tradition of holistic and natural approaches, being timeless in their effect reminding us that ultimately: A Rose is still a Rose.

Her beautiful songs, combined with her truly rich and versatile voice, which can cover rock, pop, jazz, soul and reggae with effortless ease, style and perfection, enriched with her profoundly sublime experience of life and humanitarian philosophy, of how one could live and celebrate the joys of hope, light and freedom with fellow both fellow man as well as mother Earth itself in harmony, transcends all barriers of race, creed, class, religion, political and economic persuasion. She may well prove to be a great artist in time, and from a completely unexpected corner of life, too, for that matter.

The Times

We are witnessing the culmination of something very rare in Art, the birth of a very rare kind of artist indeed, of immense spiritual beauty and vision, someone with a message as well as a mission, to heal and bring together, to enlighten and to uplift, to give hope, to lead and inspire by example, and to encourage by deed.

The Guardian

Her music is sublime and beautiful. And throughout it all, it is divinely inspired, literally. It stems from her deep spiritual and humanitarian beliefs.

Q Magazine

She is both poetess and prophetess. Her immense knowledge, wisdom and understanding, harnessed in beautiful song and divine message to the world, makes her very special indeed.

The London Newspaper

She is completely in a class of her own, a truly original one off. There is no one else like her. She can sing in so many different styles and genres, her talent is not to be dismissed easily.

NME

If anyone understands the power of music and its ability to change the world, it is Amaziah. Give her centre stage please, she may actually help to heal our broken and divided world.

The British Academy of Composers and Songwriters

A genuine African Princess at last - and what a long time we have waited for one too - one capable of making a significant and lasting change to art, life, music, culture and politics everywhere. A true daughter, sent by the Muses to heal and soothe our troubled brow. The whole continent should hail her as one the most significant artists to come out of Africa this year. Amaziah is simply magnificent.

A Torch for Africa

The difference is that Amaziah is a woman, and a woman of immense grace, charm, elegance and beauty, one determined like all good women to create rather than destroy, to heal and restore rather than judge and annihilate, to reconcile rather than oppress and alienate, to bring together than to divide and separate. Her power is immense.

The Mail

She is a champion of love, hope, patience, tolerance, understanding, done in beautiful song.

The Stage

Simply magnificent. Surely this is the voice of the future, a role model of transcendent altruism and goodness by example rather than self centred love and behaviour, or even self pity, that are so widely admired and revered everywhere these days. Amaziah has an altogether different vision. I firmly believe she could restore music to its divine dignity again.

The Arts Council

Her impact even on people who have inadvertently ended up at her concerts without even knowing anything about her beforehand, is astonishing to say the least. They are not only riveted by her immense charisma and beautiful persona on stage, not to mention her truly wonderful voice and song, but seem to become willing subjects ready to eat out of the palms of her hands. Resistance is impossible. She will capture your heart and make you truly all her own.

The Rock Garden

No where else have I ever seen such enjoyment and sheer happiness on the faces of everyone in the crowds, no where else such bonding between artist and listener, no where else such a feel good factor overwhelming the crowds with such effortless ease. She will cast her magic spell on anyone who hears or sees her. Approach with caution.

Platform Music

She must be about the only artist I have ever seen who is besieged by so many appreciative fans from a hitherto unknown audience at the end of her concerts. They cannot stop embracing and hugging her at the end, strangers she may never have even met before, and may never meet again. It is as if she has transformed them into new human beings thereafter.

Jealous of the Daylight, London

This is very strange indeed. An artist who seems to have the same impact as charismatic leaders who can convert people on the spot to go out and be different. Yet there is nothing here other than song and dance, no sermon, no preaching, no polemic. How does she do it? I really don’t know. Go along and see for yourself. Live and work, but become free too.

Sonic arts Network

She never seems to bring anyone to her concerts, no crowds of her own, not even family and friends. People who are there simply drop everything and immediately become hers. They become her family instantly. Audience participation is truly magical in her hands. Everywhere they are singing and dancing with her, indeed for her. She is completely theirs.

Fans at The Hootananny, Brixton

I always come away feeling incredibly positive and uplifted after I have been to one of her gigs. She has this unique ability to make everyone smile and feel good for days afterwards. That is the real difference between genuine artists and spurious ones. They are unforgettable.
