About Me

folk fish is an idea of David Paskells from Root Fish.its a dance world folk project were song that I have recorded that I wont be using solo will find an outlet. its dance music in all its forms but with guitars and vocals some samples but also real instruments played by real people.I was a memeber of Sheffield dance punk funk fusion band Root Fish I was the singer and later I wrote a few songs with ROOT FISH MARK 2.I now play folk music mostly but I love all kinds of music and this page lets me try out different stuff the idea of root fish like punk was there are no musical rules and nothing is off limits when it comes to sound.I do play solo stuff which is folk with other styles in the mix, but here this would be the band I would like to get together a kind of world folk pentangle with a punk soul! Influences: Roots, Dance, Dub, World, Nu Jazz old Jazz, folk, blues, funk anything and everything really early punk more in spirit than music but never say never. right okay influenced by but not sounding much like, Kila, The Imagined Village,Afro Celtic sound system ,early System 7, Bob Dylan, Celt Ariba, The Clash, The Slits, The pop group, Pentangle, Pharaohs Daughter, Jah wobble,Misty in roots, Steel Pluse, Big youth, and so many more a whole load of folk musicians too many to list.music the world over. The east, the west, outer space, inner space, other realities, our collective unconscious, our hopes, our fears ,the past, present, our dreams ,science fiction, fantasy and fact. Information received, the internet.Everything I come into contact with.
