Monet an established actress and musician began her film journey while on the set of major films(Just Another Girl on the IRT, New Jersey Drive, Marci X). She gained her writing and production experience by working on multiple independent and student projects. 'The Curse' and 'Rage' are Monet's first solo independent projects.Rage (7:50)Liz and Stacey are roommates in a fabulous apartment in Manhattan. Eventhough Liz is clearly surrounded by success, she still can not calm the silent 'rage' inside. As Liz sits in her apartment, she is haunted by memories of her sister Gillian. She struggles to keep her pain a secret, but her roommates. sudden interruption triggers painful memories and inspires her to share her agony. Liz tells the story of her sister's uncontrolllabe anger towards her as a child, all the while seeing her sister's ghost as she talks to Stacey. Eventually Liz understands where the pain is coming from and tells Stacey that Gillian's inner rage led to her committing suicide when Liz was only 8 years old.The Curse (10:15)Papa Chin, a native of China, arrives in Jamaica in his twenties and sets out to start a new life for himself. Little does he know that a grim future awaits. Upon his arrival, Papa Chin meets an Obeah Woman, who senses that he is 'cursed'. Papa Chin doesn't speak much English, so he does not fully understand the curse or what she is trying to tell him. As promised, 'the curse' unfolds over the next 3 generations, as the first male of each generation suffers 'sudden and untimely death'. The story is told by his eldest daughter Gerty now 80 years old, as she sits and remembers with her good friend Lester.
