The most profound experience I lived took place with about ten years between its commencement and completion. An honored teacher of mine amongst the Lakota Sioux assigned me the task of watching the Great Atlantic Mniwaaya (ocean) spit Anpetu wi (the Sun) forth, and further to watch it sink into the Pacific too. I realize now that the purpose was to meditate upon the miracles that we often take for granted while searching for those we "want to happen" instead. I accomplished my task in October, 2006 and it will always be a treasured memory carried in my Medicine-bag to cure the days that suck...
