SoCal Native with Eastcoast/ Midwest Parents
I have 2 sisters, Melissa and Rebecca (of dirtychildren.us)
I'm in the middle.
Both parents, being actors, tripple threat(tv theatre and film)
has been a blessing, I wouldn't change it. There are occasions that were odd,
like coming home and being yelled at and you fess up, get grounded, and find out later, they were only yelling because they were practicing for a part.I started in film officialy (of my own free will, not the several times earlier when they try to make you act, etc.) when I was 14 my sister Melissa, who is a producer/director, was the 2nd a.d. on a cable movie, called "Dusting Cliff Seven" I was a general intern, working, Art dept., grip, set lighting, locations, even P.A.ed for 2 days(it was relaying walkie-talkie signals, but I got paid, though it was more fun running around doing all of the other stuff.)
I then knew I wanted to work in production. And I did, 'till I was about 18, when one of my parents friends, a film editor, was talking to me about editing on an Avid. It's very rare to find one's calling, but I'm glad I did, I've been cutting for 10 years now, and have met several great people. Thinking I'd probably remain below the line, going from editing to directing etc., life has its twists. My sister went from Producer to Director doing both those tasks in the movie Freezerburn, and I went from Editor to Executive Producer, as well doing both tasks for the same film. It's odd being above the line, I can see my house up here, literally.... ;-)..
