Eleven Mile Climb

About Me

Starting off in Biloxi Mississipi, Brian McCarty was fortunate enough to share many stages and venues with some of the top bands in the industry. Brother Cane, Candlebox, Cheap Trick, Collective Soul, Cowboy Mouth, Sister Hazel and many more. "Leaving behind my band in Biloxi and moving to Wisconsin was tough for me." "We all shared common goals of making it to that next level and chased it hard." "I remember playing gigs with 3 Doors Down who was just a 3 piece at the time before they caught the big break." "Biloxi's music scene was awesome, definately a chapter worth keeping." Cherishing memories as the front man of Wisconsin cover band Johnny on the Spot, Brian headed out on the road as a bassist for Jimmy Newquist of Caroline Spine in 2003. For about 3 years Brian was blessed to meet new friends and play across the U.S. with Newquist during the the "Ashley Avenue" tour and later on the "Bump" tour, which he also recorded with Newquist. Brian met David Perceful of Yellow Dog Studios during his time with Newquist and ended up recording the "Yellow" disc in Tulsa Oklahoma, engineered and produced by Perceful. "Touring with Newquist and recording was definatley a great experience." "I had followed Caroline Spine's music for years." "A band I played with in Biloxi Mississippi had opened for them several times and I was hooked to their music immediately." "I remember driving to Tulsa on the weekends to record the Yellow disc in between work and tours with Newquist." "I was priveleged to have the support of my family and the musicians that helped me record the disc." "Playing along side fellow artists such as Newquist, Perceful and Phil Marshal on the road was a gift, I was able to witness true songwriting talent first hand."
The Eleven Mile Climb project took it's name from a road in Fort Pierce Florida, Eleven Mile road, that Brian had traveled often as a child. Climb represents the digging and struggles of life. "A great friend of mine, Steve Warhurst took his own life one night while I was playing in Madison Wisconsin with Newquist." "We had all stayed at his place the night before and left the next morning to play the Taste, coming back and finding him changed things forever in an instant." "He was well loved by many of our friends and families." "He was full of wisdom and a passion to succeed, greater than anyone I had ever met." "I look back daily and question what I could have done to prevent the horrible end to such a wonderful human being."
Musicians and friends credited with recording, lending a helping hand and performing with EMC include, Tim Powers; Bass, Rob Remis; Drums, Eric Nagle; Web Master, Confidant, Tony Grosskopf; Sound Engineer, Dave Perceful; Guitar, Keys; Monte Anderson; Bass, Josh Center; Drums, Rick Deckert; Guitar, Pete Vonarx; Guitar, Jim Schnieder; Keys, Joe Keenan; Guitar, Stephen Freehill; Drums, and most recently Johnny Nielson, Guitar.
A new recording is in the works from Brian, involving some of the "EMC Alumni" as well as new musicians. "I have taken alot more time with this record compared to the Yellow Disc that was recorded in about a weeks time." "Life's up's and down's since then has certainly offered much material to choose from."
