The UK’s most popular talent search, The X Factor, is back on ITV1, and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever before. The show’s three judges Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh are once again putting their names and reputations on the line as they travel the length and breadth of Great Britain in search of this year’s winning act.As always, the contestants will have show host Kate Thornton on hand to offer them words of advice even and a shoulder to cry on during the auditions, ‘Bootcamp’ and ‘Judges Homes’ stages of the show. She’ll also be there to referee any sparring matches between the judges when we go live in the studio. With three of last year’s finalists, Shayne Ward, a former shoe shop assistant, Andy Abraham, a former bin man and Journey South going on to have platinum selling albums, The X Factor really can make people’s dreams come true.Open to any performer over the age of 16, the judges will each preside over one of the three categories, 16-24, 25 and Over, and the Groups. With a record breaking 100,000 applications this year, the judges will have to use all their music industry skills to sift out the “Xtraordinarily†good contestants from the “Xtremely†bad.
