My name's Joemari. Most people call me Joe. Some call me Joemar, my childhood/family nickname. I actually like that one better, but whatever floats your boat. Born and raised in Vallejo, California 'til I left the nest for UCSB. Best four years of my life. Took an "extended break" after grad for about 7 months. Another very "meaningful" time in my life. Was down in LA, chasing after my dreams (and that Oscar trophy too, hehe), for a year and a half. Now back home up in the Bay making my way here. I like to think of it as a new direction to get to where I want to go. Taking everything one day at a time, learning more about myself, the people in my life, and the world around me. Anywho, enough "about me." Cools yo. I'm outie.Here's my family. With my Dad, my Mom (who'll always be w/ us), my brother Chris, my Ate Ruth, my nephew/godson Justin, and my Lola. Go further and I've got lots of aunties & uncles, cousins, nephews & nieces here in California, in Chicago, Michigan, Florida, New York, the P.I. They're all over the place. And down below, that's juss my Dad's side. I love them all a great deal and I most certainly would not be where I am now w/out them.
These are the friends I've known the longest and grew up with. Tied together by our parents/relatives coming from the same hometown in the Philippines... Surigao City in northern Mindanao. We all still get together for parties (like when we were kids at the family parties) or juss to hang out, play poker, reminisce, and make fun of each other. Haha. To me they, and their respective families, are family. They are the Bay Area Surigaonons--Kuya, Ate Ruth, AJ, Anthony, BJ, Rose, James, Kristin, Jay, Marivic, Jeannine, Jun, Samiline, Sherilyn, and a lot more.
And last but not least, the peeps who became my family away from home and made my 4 years in SB. Most of us are up in the Bay and we still meet up to hang out, eat, drink, watch movies, Eat, reminisce, EAT. Yes we tend to go out to eat a lot. But it's all about the company, right? The others are down here in SoCal (like me, but I'm always going back up to the Bay) and one still all the way in SoCar (SOUTH CAROLINA!) and another in D.C. (no not Daly City, the other D.C.). Even though we're all doing our own thing and don't see each other as often as we'd like, our friendship and sense of family will always be there and it'll be juss like the days back in SB when we get back together. The SB Peeps, The SB Crew--Ate Amy, Charlene, Dean, Genie, Geneva, Isa, Jan, Lawrence, Ruvi, SuZANne, Victoria, and Zhareen.
