In a world defined by genres, Omaha, Nebraskas Anonymous American is a true musical anomaly. Transcending genres, Anonymous American has been classified as folk rock, Americana, and true Rock n' Roll; The kind of music that exploded from cheap car stereos racing down main street and blasted out of transistor radios from a time now past. There is a certain familiarity when listening to Anonymous American songs, you will feel as though you have known them all your life. With one foot firmly planted in the soils of American music and one ceaselessly moving forward, Anonymous American is a band to remember.
Formed from the ashes of Omaha bands The Movies and The Get, Anonymous American exploded onto the ever-growing Omaha music scene with a vengeance. In a city that has garnered national attention via the Saddle Creek Records roster, Anonymous American is determined to make their mark in music with a sound that upholds the DIY ethic, but is true to the Midwestern roots. This genre of music has been called everything from Americana to Roots rock. In the end, it is a combination of thoughtful lyrics, precision musicianship, and a demanding stage performance. Take a listen to what we have to offer. Hopefully you will find enjoyment in its hearfelt sincerity.
We just want to entertain you.If interested in booking shows in Omaha, please contact One Percent Productions. We will gladly chat about show trades. Thanks! All songs, lyrics, & pictures © Matt Whipkey/Anonymous American.

"Straightforward rock that makes for a classic sound. Frontman Matt Whipkey isn't afraid to belt out a catchy chorus filled with sentiment."
-The Onion
"Omaha's Anonymous American is more Rolling Stones and Replacement's than it is Bright Eyes or Cursive"
-Core Weekly (Madison, WI)
"They're good. Look, if you like your rock and roll with a double-shot of bourbon and a long-neck chaser, if you like massive hooks (not indie hooks, not prog hooks, not country hooks for God's sake), the kind of hooks you expect to hear on your local FM, you have to check out AA."
-Lazy-i.com (Omaha, NE)
"While the B***** R*****s were the more polished of the two, I preferred the unbridled enthusiasm and energy of Omahas Anonymous American. At times, they were reminiscent of the early Rolling Stones, their lead singer leaping all over the stage and even off the bass drum. They look like young rock stars having a blast. And that is what this music is supposed to be about."
-Jim Adashek, The Sheperd Express (Milwaukee)
"Good songs, nice hooks, rock 'n' roll spirit, and likely not anonymous for long."
-City Pages (Minneapolis/St. Paul)
The band is to date best known for its energetic, honest, and intense live performances that see Whipkey and Carrig flailing around on stage and into the audience, Brekke living the part of a live action version of The Muppets drummer Animal, and Weber holding court with his stunning solos.
-Omaha City Weekly
Hope for a new generation of songwriters.
-SLAM Omaha
You have to admit that the crowd was head-over-heels into it. At one point, a guy standing next to me smashed a bottle on the floor and said, "Goddamn I love this band!"
-Lazy-i
Matt Whipkeys stage presence is the stuff that legends are made of.
-The Reader
They're one of the most polished and most well-received live bands going these days, and that's saying a lot.
-Lazy-i
Anyone there who saw Anonymous American were no less than blown away. Stellar. Surely the next big thing. I predict the album will get them a major label signing. "When The Drummer Counts To Four" is a rocker and is the best rock album from an Omaha artist in the past year.
-SLAM Omaha
Anonymous American sounds like Let It Bleed era Rolling Stones mixed with the best of Bruce Springsteen, The Clash, Uncle Tupelo, CCR and Bob Dylan."
-Omaha World Herald
Anonymous American are rock and roll.
-Omaha City Weekly
