Jason Ross Keith:Born and raised in sunny California. Played college and minor league baseball. My six-year minor league career found me in Texas most of the time. It was during these years that my love for County Music and songwriting was born and cultivated. I wrote a lot of songs during those long bus rides and in those cheap hotels...oh, if you could only hear some of those early gems! My late great uncle, Opry Music Legend Billy Walker, had caught wind that I'd been writing music. Well, he called me and invited me to Nashville for a visit. I guess he wanted to see if I was any good, and/or if I was serious about pursuing yet another "high percentage for success" career. Well I took him up on his offer, and it's kinda funny now, but that first impression I gave Billy was not recieved with as much enthusiasm as I'd expected. Still, he very much encouraged me to move out here to go after that dream if I truly believed in myself. Well, his words I took to heart and, after my pro-ball playing days were over, I moved to Nashville. In my seven plus years here, I've been very blessed to have met and worked with so many talented people. I've been very close to that big break a couple of times, but thus far I've not been able to capture that elusive prize; but my time is soon to come. And as for Billy Walker's opinion of my music, he did tell me on several occasions how proud he was of my work ethic and how impressed he was at how much I'd grown as a writer since our initial meeting. I am very proud to say also, that just a month before he passed away, he had called me and asked me to make for him a copy of a song that I'd written for my wife, and to print out a lyric sheet for him to learn the song...he said he was very interested in recording a version for an album he'd been working on. Thank you Billy, for such a wonderful compliment...I miss you and Bettie dearly! And to all of you who support and encourage me to keep doing what I do, thank you so very much!A special thank you to my beautiful wife Kimberly Dawn who allows me to accidentally wake her up in the middle of the night on occasion when I get a new melody or lyric idea...you're the best Babydoll!!!
