About Me
Sup guys, thanks for stoppin by.
I guess I've always had a thing for music and drums. Photos of me as a baby playing on drums led to banging on pots and pans as a kid... then piano lessons at a young age. There was always a drumkit in our house, so eventually around the age of 12 I found myself wanting to learn as much as I could about the art of drumming.
At age 13 I began serious drum studies under Ron Briggs (who is currently playing with Aaron Pritchett). Later I studied with local teachers Eddie Travato, Randy K. and John White. I've also met and learnt from many musicians and drummers in the Vancouver music community over the years, for which I'm very grateful. Career-wise, I've had the opportunity to play some amazing shows with diverse musicians who also share the love of music. Here's some highlights:
From 1995 - 2004: I performed around Vancouver & BC with blues/funk/rock group E.B.E. With E.B.E I had the opportunity to play numerous venues, festivals and events, win Battle of the Bands competitions, and open for The Matthew Good Band (twice) as well as Todd Kerns (Age of Electric). Playing with E.B.E (and Fear Zero, below) also led to sharing the stage with other great Vancouver-based bands, including:
The Solution, Ten Ways From Sunday, Armchair Cynics, Pepper Sands, The Ryecatchers, Rocky Jr., The Rumours, Krome, Crop Circle, Bushleague, Organik (aka F-Jam), Insipid (Ninja Spy), Goya, Brickhouse, The Instrumen... and many more.
In late 2004, E.B.E decided to call it a day. From there I joined up with local modern rock group Fear Zero for their Eastern Canada tour. Along with the band Krome, we hit the road across Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick in support of their debut album and hit single "Satellite". This later led to a video shoot, playing New Music West, and more shows around the lower mainland and Vancouver Island for another half a year. Soon after I began teaching local students in the Tri-Cities area to share my knowledge and passion for drumming.
This Summer 2006: I moved to downtown Vancouver and am planning on getting back into the live music scene after having taken a short break. Music, drumming and performing have always been a big part of my life, so I'm looking forward to satisfying that itch again soon.
So that's about it really... thought it was about time I setup a MySpace page, maybe do some networking, see who else is out there. To all the playas -- keep in touch! It's always cool to hear from peeps from back in the day, and learn about new music project opportunities that may be on the horizon.
That's enough from me for now... catch ya'll at a gig sometime. PEACE!!
