About Me

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1987. His name is Michael Montgomery, but the world would come to know him as K-9. Dealt an unfortunate hand of cards, K-9 found himself in the state's custody at the tender age of one. After five long years of being bounced around between foster homes, He was finally adopted. He was well off financially in his new home, but still considered by many to be a "troubled youth". At about 10, Michael moved to New York to live with his aunt and uncle. It was hear that he was introduced to Hip-Hop...
In the era where Ma$e and B.I.G were the hottest duo out, michael became extremely fascinated with this form of music. At times when it seemed there was nobody listening, not even god, he could always turn to his pen and his pad. Writing music soon became his primary mode of expressing himself.
Hip-Hop music in general took a great loss after the deaths of Wallace and Shakur. Almost six months afterward Michael moved back to maryland with his mom and sister. This did not stop Michael. He continued writing. After his mother's retirement in 1997, the family moved to Melbourne, FL. Still writing music, K-9 became influenced by artists such as Jay-z, Eminem and DMX.
Through connections such as UB, Xzile and Step 1, K-9 gained access to recording studios and found more efficient ways of writing and recording his music.
Previously signed with Lifeline productions, K-9 worked primarily with UB, but also FP, Tay and elonia. Upon the expiration of his contract with LifeLine productions in 2006, K-9 founded Sky High productions in search of artistic freedom. Sky High has prospered.
Creating the strongest affiliation with Shotta productions, K-9 has worked with Dregargon(321's reggae ambassador) and BMaze among many others.
Over years of perfecting his art, K-9 presents what is considered by many to be a breath of fresh air ...
