About Me

Hi, I'm Shelly! I work for a Missions organization called Agape Children's Ministry (check it out at www.agapechildren.org) and so I get to spend part of my year in Kenya, Africa!!!I also love being involved in my church with the high school youth group....they're pretty fun to hang out with most of the time! What else about me? I don't know, read whatever people wrote in my comments and you'll figure it out.

My Interests

Well, going to Africa of course. Spending quality time with family and friends....and uh, I am interested in having fun, laughing, enjoying life, and the stuff that falls under those categories. But like, the God kind of fun and laughs and life. ya know? Living with eternity in mind, and not wasting my life....pretty important to me too even if I don't always do it well.Yeah, so I guess that sums up my interests? Well, not really. I love to travel, and I want to see the whole freaking world! My latest interest is cruising...woohoo! Basically I'm interested in pretty much everything, but I don't love politics anymore, and I don't like things that make me feel stupid. So, besides those two things I will probably have an interest in most anything.

I'd like to meet:

Um well, I look forward to meeting God...hopefully soon because I have quite a few questions for him. I keep asking Him to come back soon but so far no dice. It might be fun to meet some famous people? I guess I pretty much just want to meet everyone. I love meeting new people, it is really quite fun and I think you learn a lot from all the people you come in contact with--especially when they are really different than you. Yeah meeting people is fun. But why do you suppose that this is one of the categories you fill out on your myspace. Who really cares who I want to meet? And when it says "I'd like to Meet:" does it mean on myspace, or in life? or what?? I need answers here people!View All Friends | View Blog | View Pics | Add Comment

Music:

I love LOVE love Target cds...you know, the compilation ones? Where you can stand by the little thingy and push a button to preview what's gonna be on your fabulous cd? 100% funk, Classic Jazz, Early Rock and Roll Classics, and I LOVE Power Ballads.I think I like the compilation cd's b/c I suck at knowing who sings what song. But basically, I love music--country, christian, rock, 80's anything, classical, whatever. Just not rap b/c that's not music, that's shouting and cussing. bleck.

Movies:

I love movies...except for ones where a women's boob just randomly flies out of her shirt. And I don't love movies with lots of F words in em...but I'm pretty easily entertained by movies.

Television:

I'm totally a reality tv junkie. Like a lot. But my all time favorite tv shows are I Love Lucy and Saved by the Bell. I also recently discovered The Office and it is freaking hilarious.

Books:

I pretty much just love books. My favorite place to be is Borders surrounded by books. I want to read them all...and I'm not even a little bit ashamed of what a nerd I am! =)

Heroes:

Um, I don't really have a hero? There's tons of people I look up to very highly like my dad, my mom, Esther Gibbs, and my bread sisters. But I really look up to a lot of different people for the different qualities they display. That doesn't make them my "hero," and like, I don't want to break into song about them being my hero or anything...but whatever. I do know a few people who are specifically NOT my hero and I want to kick them in the face...just b/c I tend to be hostile about things, but that's all.

Disappointment

It is disappointing to be someone who you don't want to be. It is frustrating to look back on behavior and wish you had done different things. It is yucky. Unfortunately I have been far from the Lord...

Some reflections

Sometimes I get frustrated by people who proclaim God's goodness. I know I shouldn't say things like that, so let me explain. It seems so very easy to be excited about God and what He is doing i...

Out of Control

The Lord has been teaching me quite a bit the last few weeks (and really years if I think about it) about control....or more specifically my lack of control. I tend to live my life with the feelings t...
