Orbit Skate Supply is privately owned by Tony Wimperis, who has been an avid skateboarder since he was 11 years old, and who was featured in a Got Milk? Mustache advertisement in the February 2004 issue of Transworld Skateboarding Magazine. He has also been sponsored by Axis Boardsports, in Brookfield CT. But sadly, Axis closed down in May of 2005, and there was suddenly a need for an awesome skateshop. That is when Tony got the idea for Orbit Skate Supply. After months of planning and web construction, Orbit Skate Supply was launched in late January 2006 to fill the need for the local skateboarders of Connecticut and New York State, and also the larger online crowd.
Hardcore skateboarders skate on average 20 hours per week, and when that happens, boards and equipment wear out very quickly. While Orbit was being constructed and the prices on our items were being stamped, Tony realized that many online skate shops make no effort to give the skateboarder a break. With most companies, everything is almost always full priced, and very rarely do they give the skater any breaks except for when the item is outdated and they want to "dispose" of it. Tony realized that, and that is the primary reason Orbit Skatre Supply exists. Our mission statement reads as follows: We exist to benefit the skateboarder, who loves to skate and needs a break on the prices because we know how hard it is to save up for the hottest latest skateboard equipment.
We believe that Orbit Skate Supply is the greatest online skate shop on the net, because we care about our customers and take the time to get to know them by name. Even though we are based online, Orbit Skate Supply appears as the skate shop down the street, where everybody knows you and you can just chill.
