About Me

I'm a self taught artist. I've always liked to draw, but found my true talent in late 2006 after buying my house. At that time I found myself at home alot and decided to give art a try again after purchasing some custom airbrushed shirts from airballin.com. I was so blown away by the realism that I dusted off the art books I bought a year earlier and started skimming for tips and techniques. This is where pictures in books helps. Visually I can learn more than reading or being told. After one drawing on cheap paper I knew I could do this. I went to the art store and bought some expensive paper, pencils, erasers, and what ever I could think of. Back at the house I quickly drew my first realistic portrait worth showing off, of R&B singer Monica. I haven't perfected anything, but I'm vary happy with my quick success in portraits. It takes me anywhere from 5-30 hours to complete a drawing. The best artists will spend 50-100 hours, but I'm too impatient for that.If you're looking to give portraits a try or want to perfect your work. I suggest you go online or to Borders Books and pick up whatever books they have from artist Lee Hammond. She specializes in portraits of people and animals and has books for graphite and color. She also has them for oil painting. They are great books, easy to read, and the pictures are vary helpful especially if you have some art experience. I appreciate all of the compliments on my work, it motivates me to keep drawing when ever I get the chance.Although I only draw portraits, I appreciate all art. I'm a vary structured artist and can really only draw what I see. I'm more impressed by abstract or mind art. Drawing, painting, or sculpting from the top of your head is amazing to me. I could never decide what to do, like I said I'm too structured.I don't do any commision work right now and am not planning on selling any of my work, but I appreciate the interest people have in my art.
