BIO
Every era of music has it's artists that help define the music for that particular generation. From Louis Jordan, and Duke Ellington of the big band jazz era; to Miles Davis and John Coltrane of jazz's "cool" era! From rock & roll's British invasion of the "Fab Four"; to the soul era of Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and the Motown Sound of the 60's & 70's! From the mega pop star era of the 80's featuring Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, & the Boss; to the hip hop revolution's Run DMC, LL Cool J, NWA, Public Enemy mainstream breakthrough.
Once again comes an new era of music for a generation of music lovers, and an artist to help define it: introducing JUNIOR X ESQ.!
Born & raised in Richmond, California. Lived a few years early during childhood in Watts, and Compton. Early influenced by 70's soul, and 80's pop/rock; but born forever into hip hop upon hearing the first rap hit, Sugar Hill Gang's: Rapper's Delight; and Kurits Blow's: The Breaks! At the age of six the child prodigy began acting and singing in stage productions which lead to an acting scolarship to the local and prestigious Berkeley School of Performing Arts: the first African American to ever attend the school. Junior began writing songs at the age of thirteen.
After High School Junior joined local rap crew DMX (Dance Music Experts) Productions, which consisted of three rap groups and Junior added a singer to the component. The group had an underground hit with its street release "D-Style" on Thomas Jones' 8-Ball Records. Through DMX Junior was introduced to Ken "K-Lou" Franklin (known for his production for Master P, Sillk the Shocker, Snoop Dogg, E-40 & the Click) at his recording studio. K-Lou, Squirt (his brother and co-producer) & Junior then formed the group Junior X & the MOC. The group was courted by A&R reps from Profile and Jive records.
Junior continued to develop as an MC and performer with the help of brother and mentor Black Swan: one third of the legendary, underground group No Concept; also consisting of The Great TJ (Taught by Jah) and DJ Fear. Junior also toured with Chill E.B. as a dancer, and appearance on the King Teck & Sway World Wide Wake-Up Show on 106.1 KMEL. Junior later became member of MfG (Mobsters for God) recording and touring Northern California underground scene for seven years including performances at Sacramento's Cal-Expo, and a unprecedented performance in front of a sold out audience of 10,000 at Oakland's Paramount Theatre in the McDonald's Gospel-Fest. It was the only time a rap group had ever performed at the event in its history. Black Swan artistic genius has also influenced artists as acclaimed coreographer Flii Styles, of "The Authority", the Bro-Hives, DAP and many other artists in the Richmond and Bay Area hip hop scene.
2003 Junior began to forge a relationship with Titan underground producer/artist 2Gz, and joining forces with Juggernaut producer/artist Priest: the Three-Way Production team was born! With the forming of Make Room Entertainment Junior X esq has position himself to be the next force in the Music Industry!
