My musical studies began with my first cries of birth, on June 6, 1982, my mother claimed I hit high C more often than she would have preferred. In my 6th year I entered the Tallinn Music School, expanding my vocal skills to include the piano.
My teachers recommended I jump a class ahead because of my outstanding early abilities in solfege.
I studied in the prestigious Tallinn 21st School where I majored in music and later, English and math as well.
As a young student I was privileged to sing with the Tallinn Boy’s Choir, conducted by the international award winning Estonian conductor, Lydia Rahula.
After high school my focus on music intensified. I was accepted into the Georg Ots Music School in Tallinn, to study pop-jazz singing. Later I worked at this school as an accompanist.
I won Best Male Singer and third place overall, in Estonia’s popular televised young people’s song competition called Kaks Takti Ette (Two Bars Ahead) in 2006.
I also competed and took second place in the jazz oriented Uno Naissoo Nimeline Loomingu competition with an original a capella composition called Sõbrad (Friends) in 2005. The previous year I was given a special award for my original composition „Never Have To“.
After my success with these national competitions, I was invited to join the best R&B / 80’s disco music band in Estonia called „Lament“. I performed as second lead singer and keyboards.
I worked as a studio engineer and a music producer at Rockhouse Studio in Tallinn. I produced several singles for a famous Estonian performing artist called „Summer“.
I engineered most of the songs for the band „Elav Legend“ for their first album called „Rock n Roll on elu“ Today the band in known as „Paradise Crew“.
While gaining valuable experience working in studio I had an opportunity to record a lot of my own oringinals.
I engineered, produced and performed an original chirstmas Cd called “It’s Christmas Time“.
I was also invited by the 2001 Eurovision winner from Estonia Dave Benton to perform at his anniversary concert. This concert was recorded and currently on sale on DVD.
Today I am studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusettes, USA. I am a singer/keyboardist/songwriter, majoring contemporary writing and production. I have just made the Dean’s List, by achieving a GPA (grade point average) of 3.9 out of maximum 4.
Being able to work on my music and study in the United States has expanded my musical horizons geometrically. I can not wait to bring my new knowledge back to my native country, Estonia. No one knows what tomorrow will bring, whose music will soar and whose will fade in obscurity. All I know is, music is my life and so far, its been a spectacular one.
