MPress
Records was founded in 1996 by award-winning art-pop chanteuse/keyboardist Rachael
Sage, who has released seven albums of "wildly expressive, moody, edgy folk"
(PASTE) on the New York-based imprint. Sage has toured with Ani DiFranco,
Lilith Fair and shared stages with Sarah McLachlan, Melissa Etheridge and Eric
Burdon, and plays over 150 dates a year across the U.S. and Europe.
Sage's albums have charted on CMJ's MOST ADDED, CMJ'S TOP 200, R&R and FMQB's
AAA Charts and been favorably reviewed in such publications as The Village
Voice, The Washington Post and TimeOut NY. Venus Magazine
says she's "a striking voice that brings emotion and truth back to the indie
scene" and Amplifier calls her "a veritable one-woman unstoppable force".
A John Lennon Songwriting Contest Grand Prize Winner (Rock), Sage recently won
the 2005 Independent Music Award (Folk) as well as the Outmusic Award (Songwriter).
Under her wing, MPress Records' latest project is an emerging artists' compilation
series entitled "New Arrivals"; 100% of proceeds from Volume One directly benefit
relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina and 100% of proceeds from Volume Two benefit Artists Against Hunger and Poverty and World Hunger Year. For more information and Sage's complete tour schedule visit:
