OLDSCHOOL ORCHESTRA DJ SET EXCLUSIVE PROMO VIDEO !
In 2001, Dj and producer, Julien Ferment works for a record shop in France, he is also starting a record company called PEPS Recordings with the help of his friend Yann Fontaine (the french deep house master). In the same time Ralph Adam -who is originally a jazz pianist- is a prolific sound ingeneer in charge of mixing & mastering tracks for jazz and rock bands.
On the advice of a friend, Julien meets Ralph for the mastering of the first PEPS releases (by Yann Fontaine & Julien Ferment). The feeling starts immediatly ! They start making music the same week and include their first track together (called « Stereo ») on the PEPS002 vinyl. They also create a nu-jazz masterpiece « Klub Jazz Part 1 » now available on DIGITAL PEPS, Julien's new label. Oldschool Orchestra is born.
They stop making music for one year because of Ralph..s professional movings. They meet again to make their first success : « Dont Forget » , a remix of Glenn Lewis.. track played by famous dj..s worlwide like Greg Gauthier (Cheers Paris), Marlon D (Underground Collective NYC), Lea Lisa (Lyon France), and on radios like NRJ France, Radio FG to name a few. They sell more than 1500 copies in less than a month, we are in 2003..
This little fame is followed some months ago with a bigger success :
« Knightz Over Egypt », a soulfuric style remix of the Incognito..s classic with the wonderful voice of Jocelyn Brown. The support comes from Graeme Park (UK), Dimitri From Paris (France), South African dj..s, Australia..s Graham Cordery, Thierry Cojan (Bangkok) etc... Big shops worldwide like HTFR sell it and the record hits the top 10 sales. 1500 copies sold in 2 weeks. At this day, it..s the most appreciated track of O.O. who still receive emails and support about it !
Contacted by Markus Enochson, they remix « Sweet Love » sung by E-Man, in a broken beat style, for Flamingo Discos (Ibiza), subdivision of Peppermint Jam. Unfortunatly it has never been released due to the lock of Flamingo. Nevertheless, the track is played by Markus and receive a massive support from .. Jazzanova !
The same year, Polydor organize a remix contest of Sophie Ellis Bextor's
« Get Over You ». Oldschool Orchestra decide to provide a soulful vision of this pop song. They go in finale, but an euro-dance remix will be chosen.. This remix has never been released even not on white label in spite of the numerous requests by email or via message boards.
Oldschool Orchestra..s last success is the Vivian Green's « What Iz Luv » soulful remix originally made for Sony Music U.S.A. who was looking for house mixes of this wonderful jazz song produced by Osunlade. Sony finally decide not to release the remixes because of the bad sales of the album. Oldschool Orchestra and E&T (who made the second remix) press a white label with the 2 remixes in 2006, the support comes from the best soulful dj..s in the world and receive good feedbacks from the magazines and forums.
THE FUTURE.
In October 2006, Oldschool Orchestra remixes the legendary Crispin J Glover's new track « Never Ever Give You Up » on Metro Groove Records, track to be licensed, not released on vinyl.
To be released in the future : The Look (Prod. By Danny Tenaglia) « Glammer Girl », Oldschool Orchestra Peaktime Mix (looking for a label) ; Oldschool Orchestra « The PEPS Theme » and « Brazilian Butt Festival ».
Julien's label PEPS Recordings will produce the future Oldschool Orchestra's tracks and probably their debut album. But the future is also the famous labels like Soulfuric, Defected, Copyright etc.. that Julien and Ralph love. Now with their little fame, they are not affraid to propose quality remixes and productions to these people.
With a high end studio equipment and a band of great musicians, Oldschool Orchestra can provide a large spectre of music, from nu-jazz to soulful house via latin, electro and peaktime.
Julien Ferment is also playing in France and Europe ..under the nickname Oldschool Orchestra Dj Set- to promote the quality music of Oldschool Orchestra and of course all the great producers like Mr. V, Copyright, MAW, Franck Roger and more. He plays every year at the « Sun Dance Music Festival » in Estonia, and also at « Club Privé », home of Defected In The House in Estonia where he met this year Sam and Gavin from Copyright and Dj Spen to name a few.

DJonTV was co-founded by director Ludovic Marcellin and label head Peps Recordings and producer Julien Ferment. This French production company designs professional programs (13-26 minute long documentaries, promotional films, press kits, advertisements, live event footages, short internet films, etc.) for televisions, event promoters, labels and producers.
