Like a caleidoscope of indie-rock, it quotes Wedding Present's stoicism and faible for reduction, the over-excitement of Modest Mouse, the groovy verve of the Pixies and the sublimity of Galaxie 500. Credence in progress, long lost and overtly redundant, reverberates with a jubilant crunch - however, as a phantom of the pioneering spirit that once seemed able to open and shape the world, as a mere reminiscence of naive optimism and idealism.During the last nine years Lancaster's appearances have been sporadic, but with sustained effect amongst listeners. A tragic human loss, job liabilities and personal changes prevented continuous activity. But not only the music of the formation gathered around songwriter Carsten J. Schmidt reflects their "stoic attitude" (Johnny Lipps, Ultimo). The core of the band has always shown plenty of wind and put their life-blood into the search for a fresh start. The musicians found it in making their parts more fluent, changing instruments more often and thus generating a new tension of wider possibilitiesThe current line-up has been working since 2003, when they made their debut as support for Hamburg singer Olli Schulz, who was quite impressed: "I wouldn't have thought you rocked to such an extent!" For Lancaster in 2006, what German music magazine Intro wrote in a review in October 2001 is still valid: "This is something completely original. Superior songs, easy melodies, sing along, baby!"
