About Me
you think that you're just doing this for you and your friends - but then, all of a sudden, other people on the other side of the world are going nuts for what you're doing and you don't even realise it. that's how though i felt about The Amalgamation Of Soundz, The Cinematic Orchestra, Four Tet & Steve Reich, Bonobo, James Lavelle, LCD Soundsystem and Kruder & Dorfmeister. or the likes of Telefone Tel Aviv, Global Communication, Gustavo Santaolalla and 4Hero... the way i felt about Henrik Schwarz DJ sets and remixes or to the beautiful sound of JAZZANOVA who have managed to bring jazz music into the club scene.. by attending top performances from Massive Attack, Radiohead, The Prodigy, AIR or the likes of Depeche Mode.. and observing over my mates, Mark Harbottle (from my old time favourite: TAOS) and Pierre Ravan (the list goes on..) the same way i got obsessed about their labels, their radio shows, their musical taste, DJing skills and gigs... if you can take a little bit of that and impart it on new people, then that's the key. that's the most satisfying thing. it's a bit cliché to say, but all too often i find that i have differing sensibilities and taste on music with the result being increasingly isolated from nearly most of my friends.. may sound arrogant, but true! nevertheless, no one has ever influenced me in my entire life as much as my music instructor and good friend, Mark Harbottle from TAOS. i've been honoured to get to know them.
my name is Amirali, i'm 25 and an extreme fan of quality music, no matter what the style is.. but i would never collect commercial tunes, and have never been into that sort of sound, that everyone enjoys. i am obsessed with quality as my passion for music was born from a will to experiment, to discover other paths. i have then decided to have a go at something i can feel passionate about, something that really means something.. something that seemed tangible. i prefer DJ-sets to use personal records that tell you a story - not essentially tech-house right from the beginning till the end! my cup of tea includes a mixture of tunes from nu-jazz and up-tempo ambient to break beats and dubstep, from trip-hop, soul and bossa-nova to dub reggae, D&B, soundtracks or some serious deep-house / minimal-techno.. having developed a very personal and professional attitude towards music, i won't change my taste because my mates not into it! i just literally can't, because i don't even have the popular tunes that most people like. you've got to take it the way it is, or leave it. record companies are in the business solely to make money, and to do that they must appeal to the broadest market segment possible. nevertheless, music is my hobby not my job and i believe real music, not mass produced product is out there. it's just that most never get to know of it. after all, money cannot buy taste! conclusion; The Amalgamation of Soundz, in the true sense of the word is my old time top favourite. not only for being friends but their fabric-12 release is still one of my much-loved DJ sets of all time where you can hear a mixture of styles in an extraordinary beautiful manner. i also enjoy listening to the Late Night Tales series (Kid Loco, Sly & Robbie, Belle & Sebastian, Nouvelle Vague, etc.) and some of DJ-Kicks are a good listen. literally everything and anything with soul. but i have this special love affair with JAZZ which i have a feeling that it will stay with me for the rest of my life...
