I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

This here be Shanghai Brown. I am happily wedded to Delphine (Byzantine iconographer and teacher), and I'm a proud stepfather to three incredible human beings - Liam, Annelise & Kieran, whom I always will love as my own, probably more.On August 31, 2006, we lost Kieran, and our lives will never be the same again. Thank you to all of you for your kindness and love during this time, and please keep Kieran, our family and his friends in your prayers.Delphine and I are currently "on the beach" in the Mojave Desert near Joshua Tree (north of Palm Springs), in California, with Ace, the tuxedo cat Kieran picked out for us many years ago. She's too big now to ride on my shoulders, but she still purrs like crazy.I be captain of a pirate jam band by the name of There Be Pirates! (you can visit our site on My Space too at www.myspace.com/therebepirates); and I'm also an itinerant shantyman; a singer of Irish and sea music; publisher/executive editor of The Sun Runner Magazine (www.thesunrunner.com), and a freelance writer for other magazines, newspapers and websites. I was recently published in a Thai travel magazine and Route 66 Magazine. There Be Pirates! has released arrggghhhh first CD, Drink & the Devil, which is getting rave reviews. We arrgghhh also getting bookings for Pyrate Week in New Orleans, and SeaFest in Scarborough, England. Help send a pirate to England - buy a copy of Drink & the Devil at http://kunaki.com/msales.asp?PublisherId=116089.I love the desert, and I'm building The Sun Runner into a regional desert-wide publication. There are lots of great people out here, and we'll never run out of places to explore.Life's not been easy on a lot of folks lately, but we're doing the best we can. You can be sure that we're grateful for our family and friends.
